Hope they are the same for us.

What allocation will we get?

We normaly get a good allocation at WBA and £20 aint too bad so we'll all get tickets.

We have received an allocation of 2800 tickets for the Carling Cup tie at West Brom on Spetember 22 (8pm).

Ticket prices are £20 for adults, £15 for under18s/over 65s and £10 for under 16s. All tickets are subject to availability.

Tickets will be available by telephone on 0870 062 1894 option 1* and to personal callers at the ticket office above the CityStore at the stadium for supporters that meet the following criteria:

Seasoncard holders with 5000 or more loyalty points – Wednesday, September 8

Seasoncard holders with 4000 or more loyalty points – Thursday, September 9

Seasoncard holders with 3000 or more loyalty points – Friday, September 10

Seasoncard holders with 2000 or more loyalty points – Saturday, September 11

Any Seasoncard holder – Tuesday, September 14

Any Citycard/ Live4City holder – Wednesday, September 15

Accesscard/Open sale - Thursday, September 16.

Anyone remember anything about past cup ties with the Albion?

I only vaguely remember a 2-1 win in the League Cup in 1980 when I think Phil Boyer made his debut and we came from behind. I think Bennett and Henry got the goals but can't remember anything about the game. It took us through to the Infamous Alf Grey semi against Liverpool. Must have been quite an occasion since WBA were great then (remember they beat us 1-3 with two Peter Barnes goals in the League earlier that year at home, having stuffed us 0-4 at theirs) and we had to put out our weakened League Cup side with the likes of Buckley and Henry in place of Hutch and Gow.

Remember the WBA Q-F. Gladys scored the equaliser as I remember and I think Tony Henry got the winner - Hutchison, Gow and Bobby Mac were all cup tied so it was Mal's team that got to the semis before we came across that bastard Alf Grey.

I think in that League Cup run Big Mal's boys showed what they could do. Anyone remember them being 3-0 up at half time at MR in a tricky game against Stoke after a scintillating show. Wonder what would have happened if Bond had not come in? Thinking back - was Mal trying to recreate the 60's side? Stepanovic the old boy as Book. McKenzie as Bell. Robinson as Lee. Shinton as Summerbee? Daley as .. someone else. There were certainly some flashes in 79/80 of real style : beating Forest and United at home in the Autumn. Some good wins at the end of the season. Maybe had Mal been left to it we would have been no worse off than we ultimately were after the Bond reign. The short-termism was amazing at the time.

What an interesting post. That was half the problem with Allison, he was so sure he could do things in his own controversial way. A team of internationals dismantled and replaced with potential and some obscure signings. I think it's a worthy point about the short termism too. Bonds initial signings of Tommy Hutch, Bobby mac and Gerry Gow made a huge difference, they complimented the players already there, but he continued with a policy of buying journeymen which failed rather too quickly. I often wonder what the outcome would have been had Mal been left to get on with it. We could all see something, but it was amongst some shocking and confusing performances. Malcolm's vanity and desire to be different were the problems I think.
Anyway I hope we tonk Albion this year.

The players he signed & the young players Mal put his faith in weren't nearly as as good as the players he let go. He chucked the baby out with the bathwater, rather depressingly similar to what we've just done with a certain Welshman. Luckily our replacements are a lot better than the nearly men Mal signed, who didn't really improve at all for the rest of their careers. It spoiled Barnes & Owen too imo as they were born to play for City & were never as happy or as good playing elsewhere.
