Do you have faith in Mancini?

Postby Piccsnumberoneblue » Mon Sep 13, 2010 7:41 am

I ask this as somebody who has nearly always backed the manager and believed that our biggest problem over the years has been the constant hiring and firing of managers. i understand the problems it may cause in attracting the very best and the way the press would slaughter us if we sacked Bobby Manc. And I do actually like him.
But how many of you actually believe that Mancini will win us trophies?
Yes or No?
I'm afraid I'm in the 'No' camp.

As I just put on another thread, yes I actually do have faith in him. I also increasingly like him and I think I'm starting to "get him" a bit more than I did from a footballing perspective.

Yup. There are things that puzzle me but on the whole I think if given time and patience he will get it right.

If we just get rid of another manager then wait for another window for him to buy / sell and build his own team then we are going to get nowhere.

People want things to happen overnight and expect us to just gel a team within weeks.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

I have faith in mancini getting us a top 4 place this season, and next season. we wont win the premier league for another 2 years after that in my opinion. For me it all depends on the players if the majority really get along with him.

Here we go, a couple of bad results and we are questioning if we have the right manager

I often disagree with Mancio's too defensive way of playing football but we needn't to change another manager again!
We'd become ridicolous all over the world!

Yes I do.

Consider the league games so far...

V Spuds - we were shite and Hart saved us.
V Scousers - we were good and Hart saved us.
v Sunderland - we were good and Tevez should have ended it in the first half. Richards ballsed up and lost us the game.
v Blackburn - we were good and should have finished them off. Hart and Kolo fucked up for their goal so again, we shot ourselves in the foot.

So, three good perfromances were we couldn't finish off the chances and close out the game, and one shit one were our keeper saved our skins.

Things will gel. I'm very confident.

He'll be good when he gets some balls. He's a shithouse. 451 at home to Blackburn isn't acceptable. Away at Chelsea is fine, but got to be more attacking at home. 7 minutes for Silva? Jo instead of Santa? Taking Jonno off when Milner was plainly knackered?

Must improve, too many mistakes there for me.

to be fair, it's a valid question to ask (albeit perhaps a little premature). I will confess that I was very unsure of the manager towards the end of last season and then again after his handling of some of the issues over the summer (notably his decision to let Bellamy leave/encourage him to do so).

I didn't particularly like his tactics or his footballing methods, I questioned the wisdom of axing Hughes....especially in the light of the questionable performance of his replacement.

However, I will happily state that I am beginning to come around to Mancini and his ways.

I have faith due to that and also due to the fact that I think we, as fans, need to just get behind this manager. He has bought very well and we have to believe that he and his team can get this right. If not, well, we will go nowhere fast in losing faith and catalysing yet another managerial (and playing staff) change.

Spot on, and this pathetic attitude is why we have had dozens of managers in almost as many years.

I have complete faith in Bobby Manc, I honestly believe he will achieve all we strive for even though I dont agree with the way he is going about things (Playing Vieira, Putting Tevez upfront alone, playing Richards ahead of Zabba, Defending at home).

I honestly believe the best managers are the ones who successfully pull off crazy decisions that nobody else would have called, unfortunately we still at the stage where he is taking too many risks, but as the squad gels and gets used to Mancinis ways I think we will improve massively?

Pretty much agree with all you say Ant, the premature bit needs consideration as Mancini stated it would take 6 weeks/6 games for the team to start to gel and then factor in the fact that this will now be longer due to injuries to key players. I didn't want Hughes dismissed because I saw enough to convince me that we were heading in the right direction, similarly I've seen enough in all the games this season (even Spuds in the 2nd half) whereby I believe Mancini is progressing.

We must realise that teams will play the same against City as they have vs scum, chelski, the arse and scousepool in years gone by, we just need to unlock them and apart from spuds we have created enough chances to have won games comfortably.

I do hope the booing at half time was directed at cuntenberg as it must have been pretty demoralising for all concerned on the pitch to hear.

Agree with all the above (except the shithouse stuff!) but I still have faith in him.

Yes

and i think he has a right to still be cautious just yet, due to circumstances. I have a growing faith that he is not only a good manager and contrary to bingo's view has got balls. He will win us pots and titles.

Lets see what happens when he has got the set up he wants out on the piitch.

I dont know at the moment. 5 points from what should have been 10. The team even with wrighty, johnson and milner on the pitch just seem very negative and its only ever an individual effort that seems to get us somewhere. Starting Vieira makes me want to punch mancini in his fucking knob. But looking at the team we have (with everyone fit) i cant see us not winning something this season or next. But with the current injuries and negativity i wouldn't bet on us beating WBA or getting past the EL group stages.

I think it we hadnt had any injuries we would all be singign his praises right now. Good job everyone else has had a shit start to the season really.

Better organisation and defence than under Hughes.

Worse attack and less enjoyable football.

Equal in the shit subs department.

I have no doubt that he can get us at least into the top 3 & win some trophies. Whether he's a league winning manager we'll have to see but if I was pushed I'd have to say yes. My problem with him is what he's doing right now & what he did pre season. He's making a great big stinking fucking arse of it & it could & should be so much better. A less smartarsed manager given access to the same players would have put out & simple non bullshitty team that would have steamrollered Sunderland & Blackburn & everything would be rosy. He's in danger of putting himself under pressure by trying to be too fucking clever.

I've got faith in Mancini in the future but right now he's shite.
