Messi v Everyone.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Messi v Everyone.

Postby Slim » Wed Sep 15, 2010 7:56 am

Not sure if anyone else watched the CL game last night, but aside from giving us one of the most piss weak penalties I have ever seen, he was just untouchable, his consecutive 1-2's with different players for his second was just freakishly breathtaking. And a shot from an acute angle that banged both posts, and came out to hit Pedro before going in was just outrageous. Truly a class apart from everyone else playing the game at the moment.

Superb performance. Then again, shows how much it influence his game when he is playing in front of solid midfield and good fullbacks.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I honestly don't think they are overselling him when they talk about alongside Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo etc. And he's TWENTY THREE!

That's the best bit; he'll still have a few top years in him when he signs for us.

School teams, youth teams and even senior teams should be made to watch a compilation of Messi's magical moments. It's not just his immense talent (cos you're not going to replicate that!)but as Slim says it's his interaction with his teamates with the 1-2's that people can learn from, every generation or so throws up these "freaks" and we should count ourselves as being fortunate enough to watch this genius.

My one reservation about him though Slim is that to be truly annointed alongside the likes of Pele, Maradona,Cruyff and Ronaldo (not the fake twat) he needs to deliver on the greatest stage and yes he's 23 but Maradona delivered the WC to Argentina single handedly at 25....

Maradona didn't have to cope with having himself as manager though.

I watched that match last night and it was really a treat to see how Barca play and especially Messi. Yes his penalty kick was wierd and completely out of character. Other than that he was untouchable.

BTW, I think he is better than all the above (and anyone else that I can think of) except maybe Pele whom I didn't see play in his prime.

I was thinking the same thing last night. I thought that all football managers at whatever level, should sit down their teams and show them Barca matches and tell them: This is how football should be played !

I was thinking if Tranny was worth £80M, I cannot imagine IF it's possible to sign him, but how much would it cost?

If they sold him which i can never see happening i would say we should offer £150mill and wages of £200,000 a week.

Never really see extended footage of how good pele was.
I have seen a lot of maradona and he was amazing
Messi is just as good as maradona imo.

However my vote goes to zidane, he had everything

Barca give him the perfect stage to play on as NQDP says solidity and quality all around him so the final 3rd becomes his playground. I wouldnt make comparisons tbh but he is one of the greatest players ever. Such a shame Argentina cock'd it up in SA.

Fuck this, even if barca sent us an email offering him to us for that money he would get absolutely twatted in the prem and would look like he did for argentina plus were not as good as barca so any hints of something special would be ruined by jo or Vieira or that smiling mong ade.
