It might sound silly but the easy way to spot the difference is to look at who is comfortable actually having tha ball.

Micah seems to get rid if anyone comes near and runs hunching over.
Zaba is ok with it at his feet and can cross with either.
Lescott doesn't want the ball and has no control or crossing/dribbling/passing abilities in the final 3rd.
Bridge is no world beater but he doesn't mind having the ball facing a defender and ca. Pass, overlap and knock a ball in. This seems to be a big part of our tactics so to me it was a breath of fresh air to have him back. Besides while we are not leaking goals and have dms playing it's no harm to have a full back going forward.

I think he rarely looks comfortable on the ball, in fact unless it's on his left foot I think he's absolutely shocking. Imo the only advantage he has over Lescott is pace, nothing else at all. Lescott for Everton was a much better left back than Bridge has been for City, both attacking & defending & can actually score goals. Neither are what's required for City as a 1st choice though.

Pace is always what's needed when you play the system we do, and that's where he beats Lescott hands-down. But as you say, none of them are realistically 1st choice now with Kolorov, but I'd say that Bridge would definately get the nod from me over Lescott; just like Lescott would definately get the nod for a CB role if required.

Well said, Ted. Lescott is a decent alround footballer who can defend and scored about 8 one season for Everton from left back. Bridge nas contributed zilch since he arrived. Tell me about the goals he has made with his brilliant crossing ability, PBL. Silly me I can't think of one,lol

Dunno but he fucked Dunne over good style & scored v us. It does still count if you score from a set piece though, or if you take defenders away from others so they score in the space like Lescott does regularly. If you're not on the pitch you don't score, so if someone else takes that place who isn't as effective at set pieces, then the team loses out unles they create goals some other way, which Bridge hardly ever does at all. Kolarov will though.

Yes it does, just as it equates to 'scoring from centre forward'. Do you know how many of Rooney's goals were from set pieces? Or Tevez for that matter? Crouch? A goal is a goal. If one player either scores or contributes to ten goals a season & the other contributes to 2, the team loses 8 goals & whatever points/cups that influences.

As regards Lescott doing it from centre back, yes he would but I'm not sure he's good enough to play centre back regularly anymore personally. I recon, when he played CB recently, he seemee to have lost a yard of pace since the last injury & I'm not sure he'll get it back. As a left back, if he takes Bridge's place, he's only replacing a bloke who's all over the place as a defender & gets regularly skinned/cauht out of position anyway so it's no loss. In fact I think he's looked a lot more solid there as a defender. Neither of them should be at the club next season imo though (unless Lescott gets that extra yard back, in which case I rate him at CB).

Remember Pat scored while being the most forward player and attacking the near post, therefore it didn't count. Damn fucking shame to lose 0-1 to Blackburn.
