If I should get stuck behind one of these scruffy little spongers at the bar while they're asking which is the cheapest lager for their lager top and then counting out the change from their penny jar with their grubby little student fingers then I should say OI... STUDENT... NO... WHILE I RESPECT THAT OUR DOCTORS AND SCIENTISTS NEED A FORMAL EDUCATION AND 7 YEARS OF TRAINING BEFORE PERFORMING MY MOTHER IN LAWS HIP REPLACEMENT OPERATION, THERE IS NO ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR DEGREES IN SOCIOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY, FASHION OR MEDIA STUDIES IN MODERN DAY SOCIETY... TIMEWASTERS!!

Lots of us were grubby students once, it seemed better than following my dad down the pit. Difference is that a few shillings to watch City then were easier to find than the cost of a ticket if i were a student now, so I don't begrudge the next generation their reduced price tickets. As for what people study, i always thought there's a difference between what's merely "useful" and what's valuable.

This has really fucked me off. I'm still technically a student but I've just forked out 50 sheets to claim my own ST seat for the three Europa games plus antoher 37 quid (with booking fee) for my girlfriend's Juve ticket. Could've bought the Juve ticket for myself for a tenner and given it to her.

i think CARL should have something to say about this..

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Club-news/2010/September/Student-facebook-group

And if we are talking about recruitment drives, did anyone read the story about Chelsea gaining an average of only 1,900 extra fans after spending 450 mil ?

You can return your ticket, when they say 'no ticket returns in last week of sale', this what they are referring to. Play them at their own game.

Although I'm sure many people on here would prefer their Mother-in-Law's hip operation to be done by someone with an HND in Media Studies...

I think he was part joking.

The 'spongers' stereotype is one of the best out there.

Being a student was alright, I'd recommend it. Did not much for 4 years and then someone gave me a nice job and a few grand as a signing on fee which I promptly pissed up the wall.....welcome to the world of work.

That said, I was never too keen on "students".....you know the ones. I was a cut above IMO haha

I think it was Harry Enfield? And I used to be one of those time wasters, I was never a sponger though, I worked 4 days a week in a shop.

Top post. I'm well happy I never had to go back to the factory after university. My step father 56, worked all his life in factory. He can't hear for shit, his body is failing him, can barely sleep for back aches and when he sneezes, this black stuff comes out of his nose and lungs. Tasted that life myself for few years before uni and I can honestly say that I'm happy I didn't go down that road for the rest of my life.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Thats my view on it, I never really did the skanky student bar thing, I couldnt stand their immaturity and their university accents. I saved my money to watch City at a weekend and go out with my working mates. I also went to Salford rather than Leeds or Huddersfield so that I didnt have to miss City.
