He gave them their chance. They blew it. If they'd won we'd be praising him for resting the main players.
Tis the way of football. Some you win, some you lose.

Let's see what he does on Saturday.

The problem is, after a faultering start things could go down hill very quickly. The youngsters are going to feel bad about that result and a couple of bad performances from the seniors and I can see things getting gradually worse as the pressure mounts.

A faltering start? We have several new players to integrate and a string of injuries yet are still 4th and could have been higher still without some freak incidents going against us. The season isn't going to go downhill because a bunch of kids lost to West Brom's reserves in the mickeymouse cup!

As for the team selection of West Brom, well we'd have looked a bit silly if we'd fielded our full stregth side against that lot and then lost key players to injuries!

Mancini is the right manager for us.

However, the most glaring mistake with our selection tonight was in defence. All season we've defended well, been strong at the back and kept clean sheet after clean sheet.

Tonight we had nobody over 20 in the back four. Have to go with a strong spine and that helps the younger players too - we didn't and paid the penalty.

It's nice to rest players, and when you have the luxury of a big talented squad you expect your second string to step up.

Yes it's the least important competition we're in but it's a competition that's there for winning. It can also get you into the habit of winning trophies, which is something we could do with.

We are not Chelsea, United, Arsenal. We need to pay more attention to these competitions. Roberto and the players he's picked have been made to look like complete chumps tonight.

I wouldn't be praising him, I'd just call him a lucky but stupid fucking twat.

I've seen Ben Mee get turned inside out by no mark players on many occasions. I said earlier he needed to be 200% better imo. We've all seen Cunningham get the same. Vidal has never proved he's got what it takes. Ibrahim has looked promising but not yet nearly PL standard. Guidetti is just back from injury & a striker apparently playing out of position in midfield on his fucking first start. RSC has barely kicked a ball since July & been told he's not wanted. Then we had Vieira & Jo, two players we're nowhere near sure about.

Our manager played ALL OF THEM TOGETHER. Not 2 or 3 but ALL OF THEM AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME.

If West Brom had lost to that team, they'd want hanging.

The stupid twat played the lad in midfield according to Fred Eyre. Absolutely appalling management.

So even 'blooding' the youngsters was a pointless exercise if they're being played out of position?

---SWP----------------VIEIRA------------------JOHNSON--

-------------------------SILVA------------------------------

---------------RSC--------------JO--------------------------

Johnson, Silva and Kompany taken off when comfortably winning

Its going to be a long season and this just shows where our priorities lie - this was the bottom of the list. Not really arsed, we can do without a run in this cup this season.

Mancini out - let's get Hodgson. He wouldn't get dumped out of a competition like this away from home against a Premier League side...

A daft analagy as we would have been in the next round with major potential opposition out of the comptition and a real chance to do what we've failed to do since 1976! Oh hang on its only the Carling Cup...nobody gives a fuck??
