Juventus on Thursday

Juventus on Thursday

Postby the_georgian_genius » Sun Sep 26, 2010 8:08 pm

It's just sunk in, we are playing Juventus on Thursday in Europe. I know we are a better side than them and they aren't the side they were but it's still makes me a laugh to say we are playing Juventus at home in europe on thursday.

I hope theres a decent crowd for this, if a european game against juventus doesn't excite the masses then no game will. Any idea what we have sold so far? East and Colin Bell stand on the website look sold out, thousands and thousands of seats in the south stand and north still. Should hopefully pick up this week.

We certainly have nothing to fear, we could keep it tight as we did on Sat and edge them out over the 90.
I think again this will be a better game for Silva to try and do his stuff, i also think that Yaya will step up and try and control the game. Outside that i hope that Ade shows he wants to be in the team for this and as a result gets a start. If Ade gets a go at it i feel it will make the difference and we will do more than edge it.

cant wait!

If you look at the tickets available on the OS then I would guess the gate at around 25000 ish you can still buy SS upper and lower

I watched Juve yesterday night beating a very weak Cagliari 4-2. Krasic scored a fantastic hat trick and no doubt he's the most dangerous player for them! But how many problems actually has their defense! Chiellini seems to me completely out of form and in the midfield Felipe Melo shows clearly he's a crazy player at all! Amauri was injuried at an ankle just in the extra-time and will be probably out of this game. So Iaquinta and Del Piero should play as strikers for sure next Thursday.
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

Really looking forward to this. First time we've played Juventus in any game other than a friendly since the late 1970s, which was somewhat before my time.

The club have done everything they can with the prices and the ticket offer of 3 for 2, it's one of the biggest names in Europe, they are still a good side-albeit not the force they used to be but we have to get 40,000 plus for this game at Eastlands - be a real shame if we don't.

A night like this could really be one of those to remember in years to come.

Come on City!

I was at that 70's game mate and I think they had summat like 10 of the current Italian national team playing. We beat em 1-0 but it should have been more and we got pipped because of that in the away leg. They were the best team in Europe at the time and now it is our time.

I was at that game in the 70's and Juventus were possibly the most brutal and cynical team I've ever seen before or since. A performance like they put in that night would leave them down to six or seven players left on the pitch by the end in the modern era.
I Remember the Kippax chanting "Fish and Chips" which i thought was amusing at the time but I was only young I suppose.
But i think it's fair comment to suggest that a game against Juve should have every Blue excited and out of the house to get to the match.

The best team in Europe? Do you remember Ajax of a certain Johann Crujff? Well, this was for sure the best team in Europe and all over the world. At those time Juve was simply an Italian copy of rags: a lot of power and FIAT money to buy scudetti one each other!

If I remember rightly that was Kiddo's 1st goal for City after God knows how many games without scoring. Header of the kind we NEVER score now. He was getting the RSC treatment from the same kind of morons who get on RSC's back now but silenced them after that by scoring shitloads & being generally superb (even playing in defence when we were short) Great player Kiddo. Then Allison stupidly dumped him a couple of seasons later along with most of our best players.

Juve played that game rather like us last Saturday but not nearly as good. Some names in that Juve team though. One or two serious butchers & some fantasic players such as Causio & Bettega.

Reading between the lines on the little bits of info out there about Juve's current condition, ( they have been appalling in defence apparently - but great in attack ), it is almost the opposite of City. Im thinking that in that case Juve will see their best option to come out and attack. If that is the case on Thurs they are going to fall directly into a trap and will do exactly what City would want.

Im expecting that they will give us a serious test with their forward play.. if they get the chance. I cant see them either outplaying us in midfield or out battling us, so imo with their current form they have one hell of a problem as to what they should do to combat City and get something.

This is going to be interesting.
