AJ out on the town a lot?

AJ out on the town a lot?

Postby Fish111 » Tue Sep 28, 2010 2:43 pm

Some hack that Talk Sport have in Manchester was, this morning on the Alan Brazil show, alluding to the fact that he's had a bollocking from Mancini for going out a lot. Anyone heard anything more substantial? I saw him with some mates in Prohibition around 10pm in town on Saturday night but he wasn't ballooning or anything and i don't have a problem with him having a drink after a game. In fact they deserved one after beating Chelsea but if there is truth in the rumour then i really hope the bollocking he received sinks in. I would be really disappointed if he went the MJ route to oblivion.

MJ went down that route with his injuries. Now Micah Richards went off the rails having read the publicity following his England debut. Funny that Adam Johnson has not started since his attempted one man show against Blackburn, Mancini may be trying to teach him a lesson.

considering his problems with running out of steam last season (though he improved towards the end) I hope he doesn't get into any bad habits

He's a professional footballer, new international on damn good money who quite frankly shouldnt be getting pissed at all.

Age 35 onwards he can get pissed as much as he wants, but as a professional athlete "getting pissed" shouldnt be on the agenda any night of the week.

My personal opinion is that i don't care about any of our players going out on the lash after a game whether we won or lost. They still need to have a social life after all. As long as they don't kick the arse out of it or get into any trouble and bring the club into disrepute. I was just asking the quetion out of concern whether anyone knew if it was rumour or if he had really had a bollocking off Bobby Manc with regards 'over-partying'.

i'd feel worse if he didn't want a drink or some lapdances after a big win, or to drown his sorrows after a tough loss. One night, a coupla hours of some fun. Why begrudge anyone that? i know i need some relief from my job like we all do, and it's no different for footballers.

that's all.

i read the quotes from mancini in some daily mail or guardian article, can't remember which. think it was more of a general "don't let recent successes with city and england go to your head" bollocking rather than a "stop going out to bars" bollocking.

i think it came on the heels of him and micah spending all that cash to date that famous bird with the weird face.

i think mancini would prefer for him to keep his head down and stay focused on getting better at football, as opposed to getting distracted with other stuff after having success - jinky is a beast, but he's not the finished product yet - i think mancini wants to see him reach his full potential.

good for him.

how much is he on a week? No he can't go out and get pissed once a week - he can do that during the summer and after he is 35
the booze and nightclub culture is what is ruining the young england players

Modern footballers are athletes and should behave like athletes ..... fuck knows they're paid enough to sacrifice a little until their 'annuity matures'.

That's all

it's a couple drinks...he doesn't need to get shitfaced and fall over. THere is a big difference. I'm not advocating getting drunk once a week, just for clarification. I AM advocating blowing off a little steam with his mates and a few adult bevvies. big difference between some fun and getting hammered in my experience.

cheers

Good Grief a thread started, based on no evidence whatsoever and you are all getting on AJ's case !

Anyone got any hard evidence that he's been on benders ? Leave the kid alone.

In any case he's old enough to pay taxes and go to war and vote. So in my book he's allowed to go out on a Saturday night.

This was being reported on talk sport.

Think I'll save getting worried for when it's reported somewhere more reputable. Like the Beano.

Not sure if Talksport and an anecdote of him having a drink whilst appearing fine, are the best reasons for going overboard on the lad.

Nothing wrong with having a drink after beating the champions, or after any other game if there's sufficient time to recover fully for training and/or the next match. Yes he's a professional footballer, no he is not a monk.

anything that talksport says is OTT and sensationalised, nobody on that programme can have a sensible debate.

A full set of idiots who love to hear themselves talk, constantly contradicting themselves week after week.

I seen him on Deansgate a few weeks ago with Sophie big tits from Big Brother. Maybe we could set up an AJ Watch Group to keep tabs on him? Always wondered if Doug gets bored in the evenings.

I sometimes wonder if people realize that footballers aren't robots until they turn 35 and retire. They have a life too, let him drink all he wants, if it affects his game, then he plays/sits accordingly.

He is a human people, not a robot.

Do you think an athlete at the commonwealth games would have a drink here and there? No, body is a temple and all that. To get to the top you have to make sacrifices. Pro footballers should make that sacrifice.
