Carlos Tevez furious with Roberto Mancini's negative tactics at City

• Forward unhappy with lack of chances coming his way
• Tevez blames Mancini for poor first-half aganist Newcastle

Carlos Tevez's volatile relationship with Roberto Mancini has descended into open hostility after a furious row between the Manchester City manager and captain at half-time of Sunday's 2-1 defeat of Newcastle United.

The argument began when Mancini overheard Tevez making a derogatory comment in Spanish and challenged him about it. The argument quick escalated while other team-mates watched in silence as the two men lost their temper. Tevez blamed Mancini for a poor first-half performance, complaining about his tactics and saying the Italian was getting it wrong by being too negative. Tevez has been playing as the lone attacker in a side featuring three holding midfielders and, despite scoring five times, the striker is believed to be increasingly frustrated about the lack of chances coming his way.

Mancini, who has shown an increasingly tough edge this season, saw it as his authority being undermined and responded aggressively, reminding Tevez that he was under orders to follow team instructions and should not be questioning his manager in such a way.

Mancini had installed Tevez as captain at the start of the season, taking the honour away from Kolo Touré in a demonstration of his belief in the Argentinian, but their relationship has never been close and this row ends what has been an uneasy truce between the pair.

They clashed several times last season, most notably over a newspaper interview in which Tevez said Mark Hughes should not have been sacked and criticised Mancini's training methods, accusing him of over-working the players by holding occasional double training sessions. Mancini responded by summoning his player to the office to inform him that he was unhappy about the remarks.

City's win moved them to second in the Premier League table but Mancini's occasionally abrasive style has caused a number of issues behind the scenes. The former Internazionale manager has already moved on Craig Bellamy because he did not like his attitude and, in the past few weeks, he has also had a row with Emmanuel Adebayor as well as berating one of the club's physiotherapists, Jamie Murphy, because of what he perceives to be the slow nature of Aleksandar Kolarov's return from injury.

I made the comment in the first half when Tevez kicked the ball into the hoardings that it was the actions of a frustrated man. And I'm not surprised because I feel it too just watching never mind playing in it.
Players can't call the shots, we all know that but you can understand it from Carlito. How irritating will it be if we not only watch these negative selections cost us games but also our best striker?
If it came down to it, who would you sooner lose?
City and sniffing knickers.

Captain and Manager have a disagreement over tactics, probably in a language the author of the piece can't understand.

GOOD!

Carlos is growing into his role it seems.

I would be fucking angry if I had to play in such a ridiculously negative side despite looking around at some of the best attacking talent in world football sat in their own half or on the bench.

If we lose Carlos and Johnson over Mancinis negative tactics and over zealous dictator character i will be disgusted.

Yes it shows passion but it's also very worrying that it seems certain players don't believe what Mancini is doing is right.

Every great squad begins to win through hard discussions between manager and most famous players. Mancio has a very strong character and Carlitos too? Well, sun is really shining at Eastlands!

This has come from a player or very close member of staff probably over exaggerating & blabbing to others or directly to the press. That bothers me more than the idea of a bust up, I don't really care about that; it happens.

The question is who & why? Mates of Ireland's on Mong are clearly suggesting he knows about it so who told him & is he the one who told Ladyman? Is he the one who was blabbing all the disruptive shit/lies to Ladyman in the past? Makes you wonder. Someone at the club has told Ireland a story though.

Fucking brilliant line in that article:

that situation will not have been helped by being told to f**k his own mother which in most civilizations is not a very nice thing to say to a person.

I'd agree with this. It's a game where people sometimes clash. Everyone who has ever played the game know that heated exchange of words is part and parcell of the game. Nothing out of ordinary in that. However real worry is who is the cunt who keeps spreading this to papers. He is the one who needs to go asap.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'm going for RSC. Thought that 'celebaration' between him & Tevez looked a bit dodgy ;-)
