Crossan,
I fully understand that you feel this bunch of bought in mercenaries aren't your team. how can they be? You have no relationship with them other than what you glean from a very anti city media. You haven't experienced this team first hand, never cheered them in the flesh.
Quite simply mate. apart from being a City fan because you always have been, there is little now to link you with the club.

BUT
I will make you an offer that even you can't refuse...PM me and you and I will sort out a couple of tickets together for an evening game. I will pick you up from home and deliver you to the Townley, where you will find that posters you have interacted with on this board; such as KK, LAHAD, Bingo, Spiv, PSut, Piccs, Sister of Fu, MHiggi, Uwe's Sky Blue Duvet, and many more, are not just posters on this board but real life genuine and lovely human beings.
We will then wander down the path from the Townley to the ground and listen to the sound of the little kids, just as excited about their heroes as we were about ours.
We'll get to Ashton New Road and the sight of our magnificent stadium, of which we should quite rightly be proud, all lit up and surrounded by fellow blues buzzing about expectantly.
Inside the ground, you will see a bowling green pitch...and be surrounded by just as many avid Blues as you were in the Kippax...You may not see Harry Dowd but you will be able to watch our best goalkeeping prospect since Trautmann and Corrigan. You will marvel at the best squad of players to wear the light blue for many many years...in great facilities...with a great view.
Then I will take you back to the Townley til the traffic clears and drop you off home.

THE FOLLOWING DAY YOU CAN POST YOUR FEELINGS ON HERE ABOUT WHAT YOU SAW AND WHAT YOU FELT...Go for it mate, the offer is genuine and the cab ride will be free...
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

John68 what a wonderful gesture from you and I would love to take up your incredible offer however I am only off on a Monday and Tuesday night and have no more holidays to use from my entitlement at work until March 2011,and I could not possibly expect you to travel all the way from my old stomping ground to where I live but I would be prepared to meet at the Townley for a beer before a home game.Chhers for the offer once again.
Also thanks to Rural etc who gave me tremendous support when I was going through a bad patch a 18 months ago,I am completely over it now and despite the 'odd' negative post I am a happy old fucler really...................

Crossan,

Take it from me (aged 47) that I fully understand your sentiments, but have to agree with John on this and you really have to get back involved at a personal level.

I sometimes get a similar feeling to yourself, but by the time I have mixed with other fans, got into the ground and sat with the same people as normal for years ...... by the time the match kicks off I am as up for it as I ever was.

Believe me, when the ball hits the opponents net, I am still just as excited as I ever was as a 10 year old stood on the old Kippax. When we are desperately hanging on to a goal lead in the last 10 mins, I am still a nervous wreck with head and stomach ache and when we get that hard earned victory, I still bounce out the ground with a massive good feeling inside and it still makes me a lot happier for the next few days.

When all is said and done ...... the only thing that has really changed is that I tend to now have more of tose 'feeling great' moments ...... because now we tend to win a lot more!!
Relax ... It's only a message board in hyperspace!!

Crossan, these threads have to stop - get your miserable arse down to the Townley on Derby day and we'll all have a group hug.

Its the only fucking thing I can think of at this stage mate!

Seriously, this club is in your heart. Your head is just getting older, sillier and more confused... don't trust it :)

Crossan,
Am really sorry that you can't take tho offer up Mate. I am quite certasin that all those old City feelings would return and you would see that the new City experience, ain't that different from the old one. Much the same as the 60s...when we had optimism and hope.

I do hope you manage to leave the armchair behind and get into the Townley this season...You might find that you really do enjoy it more than you think you will.
