Anyone else get the feeling he's about to burst into life and take the league by storm? I've spent a lot of time working in Spain and watched a lot of Spanish football. This is the signing that has excited me most since the takeover. The naysayers in the press will be eating their bollocks "too lightweight" predictions soon.

He'll also win two consecutive player of the month awards, squeeze AJ out of the side and become a real fan favourite. Bet he has a great game at West Ham.

I can see a big improvement already, against the barcodes he stood up to a fair amount and didn't back off. Another couple of games and we just might see him really push on and become a very good player for us.

I really like him for a number of reasons, he's skilful and he seems to link up well with Tevez. Also what i didnt expect is he tracks back and works hard for the team and that's a big plus for me. If him and Tevez were playing behind a big striker (ade or mario) then we could end up playing some lovely football and I think we can't really judge him so soon.
It took Drogba 2 years to settle into english football and the same for malouda, so he will need time to adapt, but he is showing improvement every week and hopefully it won't belong before he settles in.

My only worry was about his physique & workrate. He's answered both those questions & now he'll just keep getting better. Seems to have a great attitude. Not sure we'll really see him at his peak til next season though as he relys on people making the right attacking runs/passes, which we don't, yet.

Me too and he put those two doubts to bed in the Chelsea game. The way he put himself about in the first twenty minutes convinced me that he will be a star for us.

I thought Silva would really struggle to adapt to the Premiership, and I'm still not sure his game is really suited to City's current style of football

For Spain he plays in a team which relies on close interpassing from a mass of players on the edge of the opposition's box. At City that only really happens at home games whne the opposition have 10 men behind the ball.

I rekon he will be pretty good this season, but not at his best till next. For some reason i dont think he will be like Drogba taking that amount of time to come good, which is down to attitude imo.

I also think that City's / Mancini's prefered style will suit him and that is one of the reasons he was bought.

I don't bother assessing players in great detail playing in the prem for the very first time. They should be judged half way through their second season to see if they can really make it in the league.

But nobody is assessing his performances in great deal. This is an unequivocally optimistic thread about his potential and improving form.

As for the physique thing, loads of players like Luka Modric have shown that if you're that good, you don't need to be 6'2" and 14 stone to be a Premier League attacker. Lazy journos just like to dismiss on first appearance so they don't have to do their jobs properly. Silva's game is all about dropping into spaces that nobody else picks up on. I think he'll be areal favourite come the end of the season.

The 1st time i saw him, he seemed to be a little too slow and lightweight on the ball and lost possession a few times. But what i aslo saw was the clever way he took up positions in space, usually offering a bck door for players to get out of when a move had reched a dead end.
He was defo in it for the team. I am certain we'll be drooling at his play before long.
In the Chelsea game, I was amazes at how many times he won possession back for us upfield in dangerous positions.
This guy has the potential to a huge player for us in the very near future. Very clever player too.

Good points John, teams like Spain are good for what they do off the ball as much as on it. I saw the U18 a while back and they are the exactly the same, they learn from the word go to make themselves available to who is on the ball.
