But some things really frustrate me with England at the moment. The main one is why Wayne Rooney has to collect the ball off the back four. We've fullbacks that can go forward and, in Gerrard, one of the best forward passers in the world. Why then, does Rooney think he needs to come so deep? And why isn't Capello having a word? I wouldn't mind so much if every time he collected it he didn't just fire it 100mph at Crouch. WTF is he supposed to do with these kind of balls?

Another is the tempo. I think our very own Mr Barry has a lot to do with this. Through the middle England are far to slow and this results in stupid passes being made to wingers/ fullbacks getting them in trouble. When wingers are marked the middle two decide to try and play it behind the opposition defence which works when Defoe's in the side but not when Crouch is up there on his own. It's really methodical and has no zip. I was really hoping Wilshire would've come on at one point.

Also they shouldn't be afraid to be more direct. The best chances came towards the end when the ball was hit towards the target man and Rooney actually decided to stand near his strike partner. If something works continue doing it.

I suppose the bottom line is that Montenegro did a great job, dirty though it was. And this result shouldn't affect the final outcome of the group (too much).

Watching England is like having family you despise round at christmas and easter. The world cup was christmas, this was easter. I have filed for divorce a while ago and have never been happier. You talk perfect sense lookmum but it wont change. England arent very good.

I thought Barry was excellent for most of the game covering everything and cleaning up at the back when needed. Just let himself down a bit with a few wayward passes, but then again, who didn't.

I thought he was too easily bullied off the ball at times and as always rarely makes a tackle.

Thought Barry did well up to a point, being more positive than most of the team until they seemed to collectively run out of ideas. It was his usual underappreciated role though, keeping moves going, reading the game well, intercepting and playing it to someone in a better position, dragging oppo players out of the way to suit. The sort of stuff that a lot of fans rarely appreciate.

He perhaps made too many passes that were 'safe' reather than attacking, as the game prgressed and needed more cutting edge, agressive play. The whole collective effort wasn't enugh though, and though I wouldn't single Barry out, they're all culpable. Thankfully it was one of our players who provided the brightest ray of hope. Johnson not Barry, no offence gazbaz.

No attacking cohesion or purpose, slow build up, playing everything down the middle but opposition crowded it out & no plan B. Not one decent cross or pass from either wide player in 90 mins; swerves flicks & twists followed by fuck all. Only decent cross came from a fullback but striker missed simple header. Sound familier?
