Training Wednesday 13/10

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Wed Oct 13, 2010 4:53 pm

I expected half a squad today and that's what I got. None of the internationals were out except for SWP but the group were made up with reserves( Ben Mee,Cunningham,Roman,Ruzzak,Kay,Elabdelloui) The good news though was Kolarov was out albeit not involved in the full contact stuff but he looked pretty good to me.4 keepers but no Joe or Shay. Gunnar was back recuperating from a shoulder problem and was disappointed not to have played against N Ireland.

A number of warm up routines followed by a hand ball game got them loose before they moved onto a pass/move game. Nothing major but sadly Milner had to limp out and end his training for the day. Hopefully nothing serious but looked like a knee problem to me.

Some fun stuff followed this as half the group went to the HILL under the watchful eye of Ivan Carminati whilst the rest got their exercise with the elastic band belt and pulling weights behind them. Then it all finished with a 3 team competition of 5 a side. The team not on the pitch all played their part by being available for passes just off the pitch. As ever this got quite competitive and occasionally heated as the referees decisions regularly got questioned.

Best player in this was Stu Taylor who for most of it was unbeatable. Finally in the last game Ade put 3 past him but he had been awesome. RSC had a great spell scoring loads with some top first time finishing. And Nigel finished it all off with a sidefooter from and Ade pass.Kolo sat out the last game but I didn't see him pick up a knock or anything.

With all the great cars these guys drive it's interesting that RSC has been cycling to Carrington.Don't know where he lives and I doubt he cycles all the way but he has been cycling in as part of his fitness drive. Better than just gym work apparently.

How did Nige seem? Worried that the bullshit in the press may have to him. Hopefully he's a strong enough pro to ignore it all.

No sign of anything different with Nigel. Apparently loads of photographers have been turning up at Carrington to get pictures of him and left with nothing even though he has been inside at times.

And no Michael Johnson today.

Cycling is less stressful on knee joints than running so if he needs to improve his CV fitness that makes sense

Thanks for the report. I hope Milner's knock is minor. Any news about Balotelli?

Thanks Doug. I wonder if Kolarov is going to be in contention for next game.. doesn't sound like it does it.

No news on Balotelli unfortunately.I did ask but didn't get an answer. When I said the last I had heard was he had had a setback and it would be December at the earliest it came as a surprise. I hope that means it will be earlier but he might have been surprised that such news had leaked!

RSC cycling to Carrington? That's weird for the club to have him road cycling rather than in the gym, seems like an extra insurance cost?

Cheers Doug but 'Ruzzak' ?? Now you are winding me up! Is he the half brother of Rusnack & Razak?

Just this minute seen Albert in action on the OS, so I know you've not made him up but I'm not sure about these other blokes.

I thought so, deliberate wumming! It's mixing with those characters from Bluemoon that causes it.
