Munichs (rant warning)

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I'll admit to using the term in the past, but I've grown up a bit now.

Using 'Munich' as a pejorative term for United or their fans is an embarrassment to Manchester City Football Club. It's below us.

I find it embarrassing to our greatest player at the moment when we sing his name.

I find it embarrassing to see dads sing it with their young lads like it's ok.

I call them rags, twats, cunts, wankers, knobs, dicks, scruffy twats, horrible arrogant more scouse than they think cunts!

I thought Feb 2008 would of put all this to bed but still it happens.

Sums it it better than I did really.

pretty much this. Used to sing all that shit when I was 20-odd, but growing up a bit I began to realise what the whole thing actually meant - Lots of young mancunians dying in a plane crash.

Not judging, people can sing what the fuck they want but count me out. plenty of other things to slag the thick, inbred, plastic, cockney scruffy bandwagoning hypocritical clueless debt-ridden armchair fuckwits for anyway.

My personal opinion is that for me people get hung up on it a little bit too much about it`s use. I think most people who use the phrase "munich" when reffering to our local cockneys are of a certain age and they also use it to wind the "munichs" up rather than laugh at dead people. I also think people need to remember a lot of football crowds aren`t very PC although there is definately no room for racism which I do think most if not all people who use the "munich" slur would agree. Most other things go. I`m sure some people would have been agast at "Canon and Ball are shaggin` your wife" but most joined in. Not that having an affair with 2 80`s comedians is on a par with an air disaster...unless it`s your wife. I see it as the reason why the song is sung...and most are sung to wind up or intimidate not celebrate death.

I never used it. Til I was over there. After that 1-0 loss I put on my bitter Bertie hat and used it heaps.....I think. I dunno, after that game it was all about stupidly small pubs, daleks in pubs, the Bish fuming it out with some Munich cunt, trying to chat up Kiers missus and finding the real Fidel.

Munich cunts.

Shocking term. Don't use it.

I find a song that is just one word "munichs" munichs" repeated over an over makes city fans sound like thick benefit dodging twats, and not the brilliant funny and loyal supporters you would think city fans are. and i really thought i would hear a much better song for tevez as he deserves it rather than a song we sing for every player. Carlos tevez is a blue is a blue....................... BORING!

To me it's just a wind-up, like the "self-pity city" stuff aimed at scousers. I call all my red mates munes. Their indignation amuses me; most of them couldn't even name one victim of the disaster. I think how loosely one uses the term should depend on how thick skinned one is, to quote the Queen. I think the Feb 08 Derby showed that when it comes down to the remembrance of a group of kids having died, it takes on a more sombre significance for even the staunchest blues.

A munchen is a munchen, end of story. Older posters that know how they used it for marketing purposes know this. Younger people that confuse the event with the holocaust have simply been brainwashed by the generations of propaganda. Doesn't mean I sing the sick 'runway' song that's just crass. But a munchen is still a munchen and those that say otherwise are, and always will be, muchenmunchers.

Most modern younger rags dont even give a shit about the actual Munich incident. They have no emotional attachment to it, they just want something to whinge about. I mean I dont go on about the City glory years because I wasnt even born so to be honest I dont give a shit about it. Of course its sad etc that people died but your average rag doesnt honestly care inside. At the end of the day if some thick 20 odd year old rag is going to get wound up being baited by the word 'Munich' which I'm sure is a lovely place then fair play, stupid fucker. Saying that personally I dont ever mention the munich stuff but only because I just dont have the time or energy to waste.

I have no issue with it whatsoever I have to say.

It is unpleasant, as is the song but they fully deserve it. I don't buy the whole "it's disrespectful to the dead, and there was a City player included"....nor the "would you sing about the Holocaust" arguments.

It's intended to upset them....and is fit for purpose, United fans en masse deserve the name.

I'm not using the denigrate those who lost their life, I'm aware that it is in poor taste and that we likely shouldn't use it in light of its provenance but frankly I don't care in the context that it's used.

I hate the name "rags"....it's wank. It's Sesame Street levels of offensive. I had a lifetime of Shitty, Citeh, Massive, Bitters.....Munich is the only one that remotely gets under their skin.

Like others have said, I've got plenty of really close mates who are reds. Mostly we don't talk about football as, as soon as the topic comes up, they turn into cunts like the rest of their following. And it's that "rest of the following" who fully deserve the name.

Fair play to anyone who doesn't like it, won't use it, finds it offensive....I respect your rights to all of these things. Equally though, I'm not toeing your party line as, frankly, I do not agree.

I do call them Munichs......It riles the Rags(The only reason I do it) and that makes it worthwhile..in fact anything that riles the rags Im all up for it.

All this sensitivity about it is fucking so hypocritical, as these same people have probably come out with some offensive joke in their lives..and continue doing so..so to harp on and play the moral card is laughable.

This ^^^^^ - FFS it is a football song / chorous that has gone on for decades - it has a 'nickname' in it - so what! - no need to be over-sensitive about it

It is not as if CITY fans are trying to defame or insult the individual victims - people just sing the words out of habit - big deal

Now if you want to take offence at something to do with that event that was / is wholly disgusting and worthy of having a rant about - then try the digustingly hypocritical way that those twats at the swamp organised that 50th anniversery event to get 'world level' sympathy etc - and commercial exploitation - totally disregarding that those twats did next to fuck all for the families of the victims

Now that was highly offensive - hypocrisy off the fucking scale!!!!!

I tell you what though, it winds them up good and proper using the word Munich! On several occasions I've had a rag stood in front of me giving it large, until that word comes up and then you suddenly see that smirk disappear from their ugly faces and they start to turn red in the face, boiling with anger. I actually had about 5 of the twats in my face after coming out of a club asking me "what happened to that n*ger Foe eh?!" Until my mate came over and sang "Carlos Tevez is a blue, he hates Munichs!" Suddenly it was wrong to use that word? I also see a lot of themdoing airplane gestures to our fans during most Derby matches. What's that all about?

I personally don't see it any different to making a joke up about Michael Jackson. Have you not heard the one about his monkey and laughed?
