Training Saturday 16/10

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:24 pm

Don't get too excited but I think everyone was training today apart from Michael Johnson. He is apparently working inside all this week , there haven't been any setbacks and yes he will be close to a reserve team appearance is what I was told.

True Yaya and Mario were only working 1 to 1 with physios but at least they were out there so not too far way so fingers crossed we might have a fully fit squad soon. Shame I didn't cross my fingers quickly enough as 3 got an injury during this mornings session!! 2 minor ones were Patrick ( seemed to tweak his right knee) and RSC a hand injury ( maybe because I met him before the start when he arrived on his bike and shook his hand) but also Kolo who limped out with what looked like a hamstring injury.Maybe ok for Sunday but.......

Kolarov also didn't take a full part but they are just working him hard 1 to 1 and I expect full training next week as he looks ok.As for everything else it was a normal session with plenty of fun in the early warm ups. Headed goals only , hand ball, left foot only and even games of tag got them started in a good mood.Mancini spent his time away on another pitch with the Sunday team.

The usual football game to end the session was probably a little less intense than some I have seen , perhaps because it's the day before a game but it still ended with heated argument about the goal scored with the last attack of the game.Vinnie as ever not happy and complaining loudly to the linesman for his shocking decision. The guy just loves winning.

Eh Doug, did it look like Ade was part of the plan for Sunday?

Edit: Cheers pal ;-)

I was hoping for an update today and Doug didn't disappoint. I think there'll be thousands of crossed fingers when he finally returns to action with the reserves. Surely he's had his careers' worth of injuries now?

Doug - you seem one again to be suggesting that City players smile and enjoy themselves in training. Dont you know this goes against all known Sunday Supplement wisdom?

What's the Wayne Bridge situation? Is he also back in the mix as you dont mention him as missing? So many full backs all of a sudden!

Random question but Doug...how does Jo seem to interract with the squad? Is he in the thick of things personality-wise or does he keep himself to himself? I know it's hard to tell probably but do you get the feeling that his fellow teammates rate him or not?

There is no doubt initially when we had him he was part of the gang with Elano,Robinho and Berti. They were close at training and apparently off the pitch too for obvious reasons. He seems a fairly low key character and there is no evident player or players that he seems to have bonded closely with.As for whether they rate him I have no doubt I am too heavily biaised by my own thoughts so the ansdwer would be no.

I just think he is far too static and his touch isnt good enough for what we have.
