Could be another agent playing the "Terry" game in order to up his wages but I do get the distinct feeling there´s more to this - too many coincidences

It isn't just the Mirror running this story, three or four papers have it in some form or other.

The basis of the speculation imo is the precedents that baconface has previously set. Player somehow or other questions the whiskey king's authority and next news its curtains. So there is some reasonable reason to speculate.

Some genuinely thinking rag fans i know have been 'concerned' for a while about their situation, but always cite the idea that the rags have been written off many times and bounced back through the adversity. While i agree that has happened and it is one of the reasons they have the aura that they do, but there is a danger in believing that will always happen and the one time it doesn't happen then the price may be way too much to recover from. As John says the cracks are there and everyone can see them.. the key thing is when just one crack too many appears. Shrek carried them last season, if he is genuinely out of sorts then they will be hit by that psychologically. The one crack too many for me would be their mentality on the pitch. Psychology is a massive beast in football, all teams now will be looking at the Everton performance and now WB and realising that they are vunerable if teams truly take them on with a nothing to lose attitude.
Baconface can get away with anything while the team is doing ok and on title winning form, lose that and everything goes, the spotlight increases and questions get asked, the pressure mounts and the only way out of it is a response on the pitch, and that is when we really find out the true mentality of the players they have.

Personally i wouldn't underestimate them, yet the scene is set thats for sure.

He was always going to be sold after posting an £85,000,000.00 loss. Fergie will have no say whatsoever when real or barca come knocking on malcolms door with a bag of sweets in hand.

Calm down everyone, it's from the Mirror, it's just a made up story that you can wipe your arse with. But why anyone would buy that rag is beyond me. Shit paper with shit [strike]journalists[/strike] story-writers.

Exactly why I find it curious. The Mirror is normally the Rag house journal (I guess the other papers just followed their lead). I can't believe that the report wasn't sanctioned in some way by Fergie. There's something stirring in the murky depths of the swamp.

I've had a look at the thread on this on ragcaff (i love them squirming) and they seem to think the mirror is an anti scum paper. Interestingly though, the more intelligent over there also think that if baconface didn't want it printed, it wouldn't have been (the view being that it would have been deflected by another titbit supplied by the whisky soaked old git.

BBS.
There are always reasons for success and reasons for failure, they don't just happen for no reason Mate. We didn't implode in the 80s spontaneously, it was the bad management of Swales and those he allowed to impose themselves on the club that caused managers to fail. The reasons for the rags success were simply the resources available to buy players and afford to correct their mistakes. Taggart is no magician and without thoseresources, Taggart would have just been another manager.
The rags are renowned for bouncing back from bad times, but when most clubs, having spent, were stuck with what they had bought, the rags could always buy again. It ain't a great science.

Now Taggart can't do that. When he failed with Bartez, Veron, Poborsky, Cryuff, Ralph Milne et al and there were many of that ilk. he just dipped deeper into Edward's pocket and bought again. Today he is fucked. In fact for him it's worse than that. the rags are unable to buy in the big market, there is pressure from the rag's financial situation, it's all going tits up, he needs massive investment and can't do a fucking thing about it.

Rooney hasn'r signed the contract that's been left lying abut for months, he's acting like a twat, he's fell from form and ther is fuck all that Taggart can do about it......WHY AM I SMILING????...HAHAHAHA.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT
