I used to get dismayed at the shit that Garrido, Ball and the other left backs at that time would cop for. Must have been difficult having to do the job of both LB and LM at the same time as Petrov never tracked back. Neither were class but both were decent pros.

I like to think if a player has a shit game, even if they are a favourite I can say they had a shit game, but the ones that I have Job-like patience for:

Shaun Wright-Phillips
Michael Johnson
Roque Santa Cruz
Micah Richards
Kolo Toure

Little Willo Flood....Saw his 1st game...he never stopped running...not sure he knew where he was going...but he gave everything and more for the cause. He looked like a 9 year old and tacled like a de Jong....Was gutted when he left.

that's a cracking list. I'd love to see MJ back on the pitch...and when Micah has a good match i kinda tell myself 'i told you so, asshole.'

cheers

Looking back, Uwe probably wasn't the second coming of Pelé like I thought. Loved him though and had his name on my shirt for a few years.

Always backed Vassell against the abuse at Eastlands too, he had some pretty dreadful games but no way did he deserve some of the stuff they used to shout. Liked Javi Garrido too, thought he was better defensively than Bridge tbh. And cost a tenth of the price.

And the guilty one, Elano. Every Hollywood ball that ended up in level 2 or Cruyff turn that lost possession in the centre circle, I excused at the time and reckoned it was just that nobody else was on his wavelength. Silly.

Always loved any player that has come from within the ranks
I always felt really sorry for Richard Edgehill, a died in the wool City fan who got crucified by the crowd every time he touched the ball

I loved Elano too. Until he got those horrible braids. That was the beginning of the end.

and to be honest most of the other players around that time as I was a kid and they were my heroes.

Now as a 31 year old I just sneer at all footballers who just taking too much money from the game and can't really think any of them can do much right.

Always had you down as younger than that, no offence meant of course!

Likewise. I always assumed you, LookMum and PoC were about 23-24. Don't know why.

I know POC is only early 20's, I had MRM down for 21-22

I'm 19 mate
