Without wanting to sound cynical, does anyone think that they might have tied him down to a longer deal just so they can sell him in the summer for a bigger amount?

why on earth would he do that? If he wanted out he simply wouldnt sign.

From what I've heard he's doubled his wages, and United no longer face losing him for peanuts. To me it just looks like they've got him to sign it for now, then they can let him leave in the summer (which also removes the question of what he was going to do until january) for a big fee.

Like I said though, perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

I've always admired his skills (big difference to Rooney by the way) but I'd prefer us not to do any business with rags. Whether it's selling our better players to them (Coton), loaning players from them (Kanchelski's), getting former rags (Cole) or buying players from them (Cooke after we'd bought him), it almost always ends up in tears somewhere along the line.

i think most players would 'fuck us over' or anyone if something bigger came along. you're using the excuse of ex rags whilst forgetting about a whole host of players who have 'fucked us over'. its the nature of the game these days. there are many united players i'd have here in a heartbeat, and some including wayne who i would never been happy with. if you're still not 'sold' on carlos tevez i find that very sad.
