Stadiums

Take a look at these that are part of Qatar's 2022 WC bid:

Wow!

If we were to build a new stadium that would probably quite impressive one with our sheikh's money!
I'd rather expand Eastlands though

Looks a bit different to Craven Cottage;) When is that WC going to be played. Isn't it very hot all year down there? Might be very late night games when and IF.

They're going to be air-conditioned. Seriously. They reckon it'll be something like 28 degrees on the pitch. They're using solar to power the air-con, so no polar bears will be harmed in the making of this world cup.

At some point in the near and far future, each seat in the satdium will have a heating option, a monitor allowing you to access the WWW, the OPTA stats for the game you are watching, SMS, video calling, instant replays and different camera angles....whilst you are still in the fucking stadium.

3D is the new project for home entertainment

The next step will be a hologram in your own room of the game you are watching.

The step after that will be first person "head style cameras" for each individual player giving options to swap players at random.

Technology will either destroy the game or enhance it, dependant on your perspective.

Its football Jim, but not as we know it.

It will be somewhat different than getting crushed to fuck over the right hand Kippax tunnel

It's all well and good having great innovative designs, see all the concept cars that are on the drawing board, but the reality is very different. theres no doubting that they could build such impressive stadia but where is the legacy that FIFA crave? Who would fill the grounds? All white elephants imo.

Speaking of stadiums/a - it's about time our Sheik revealed whatever ground plans may be in the offing. Or are they going to wait until next summer (or later) to avoid any charges of over-capacity?

From wiki

The country has undergone a period of liberalization and modernisation during the reign of the current Emir, Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who came to power in 1995. The laws of Qatar tolerate alcohol to a certain extent. However, the few bars and nightclubs in Qatar operate only in expensive hotels and clubs, much Distribution Company, the only importer and retailer for alcohol in Qatar. Under Qatar's Sharia, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public.

During the month of Ramadan, eating, drinking and smoking in public is strictly banned from dawn to sunset. This also is applied in the UAE.

Ramadan would depend on the phase of the moon - even then it varies in some countries, some Mosques use local moon phase, some use the phase in Mecca.
