Micah Richards - Question for IBH

thoughts on his performance yesterday.

It's been said on other threads but I am saluting Micah for a terrific display yesterday. Defensively sound whilst really looking dangerous with the ball at his feet. First Kompany and Toure improve and now Richards produces a performance that was a world away from anything I've seen from him in the last couple of years.

Only one game granted but I'd be interested to hear Alan Beeksen's analysis of the boy yesterday

There is no doubt that Micah can play sometimes

What is frustrating is that for every good game he plays...he plays 5 that are shite...a case of 'one step forward...three steps back'

I've heard that Paddy has taken him under his wing so I hope he listens to the veterans advice

He had a good game yesterday and made some positive runs...he just needs to remember to run back when he does...instead of jogging back in his customary style

To me...He still is by far the weakest link in this side...maybe he will prove me wrong in time but he's not a teen anymore...he's 22 and if his new tricks havn't been learnt by now then he will be an old dog at the likes of Blackburn or Wigan soon enough

Can't really take issue with this as it's a good honest response.

In my opinion (and this is reserving judgement on Kolarov), Micah is quickly establishing himself as the most reliable full-back at the club. He might not be one of our best players but I think he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet (at RB). Incidentally, I've never rated Zabaleta in the past but also think that he's really found his feet this season.

I think the pair of them deserve an awful lot of credit for standing up to the challenge of the vast investment in the team. Better players (such as Elano and Ireland) have given up, packed up, and fired off.

For me, Micah's biggest problem is his lack of concentration.

A player with as many games under his belt has him shouldn't still be switching off during matches.

What happened next?...Did Micah throw the ball forward from there or was the next movement backwards? Who knows. In that shot, he is simply holding it behind his head.

I agree. They still make mistakes as do all human beings & Zabba makes some corkers but both, & Micah in particular, seem to be responding to Mancini's coaching & taking on board what he's telling them. I think he's doing a fantastic job with Micah. I can see both of then getting better & better if they continue to listen & do what Mancini tells them. If only SWP could come back to form the same way, we could have that right side we used to dream about when he left.

This was not his fault but there was nobody challenging him for his place in the side and so his place was almost guarenteed. Now the new City is dawning i think the penny has dropped that lacklustre displays will not be tolerated. He can be replaced at any time. This is great news for the player himself and for City, we're both winners. We get the player playing we all knew he could and he gets his place back in the side.

Yes... BUT... I don't see an attitude (or ability) problem with Ned. I think his problem is, and always has been, that all sides need a stable defence and he's always bloody injured. If he survives a full season in a decent Sunderland side without breaking down then great, we'll have him back thanks very much.

complaints about the service fall on deaf ears. just sayin.

i bet the number of orders they get wrong is lower than average tho, simply because by pointing at the menu it reduces some risk in terms of translation. Plus also too, who's going to bitch when the deaf fucl up your food? let it ride and jog on...right?

Obviosuly you cant tell from that but he does a lot of foul throws imo so chances are he released it once it had gone way passed his head

I think Ned has limited ability personally but Micah has the world at his feet and can become a great footballer in his preferred position.

Micah gets a lot of stick at matches, some of it fair I may add, but over the years who has he had to learn from? Danny Mills? Sun? In my personal opinion he will become a good defender for us in the next few years. I don't think that just because he's my favourite player, it used to piss me off more than anyone when he stood with his 'hands in the pockets' ball watching. But because all he needs is guidance and he would very well become a top top player.
Boateng is no better than Micah, like some on here said he would be when we signed him. He might be better at crossing but he gives the ball away needlessly as much as Micah and appears to have defensive lapses as well.

I'm just glad that it wasn't Micah that got sent off instead of Boyata because otherwise he would have been lynched!
