Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

MaseCTID wrote:Micah gets a lot of stick at matches, some of it fair I may add, but over the years who has he had to learn from? Danny Mills? Sun? In my personal opinion he will become a good defender for us in the next few years. I don't think that just because he's my favourite player, it used to piss me off more than anyone when he stood with his 'hands in the pockets' ball watching. But because all he needs is guidance and he would very well become a top top player.
Boateng is no better than Micah, like some on here said he would be when we signed him. He might be better at crossing but he gives the ball away needlessly as much as Micah and appears to have defensive lapses as well.

I'm just glad that it wasn't Micah that got sent off instead of Boyata because otherwise he would have been lynched!

Micah did himself no favours when he went through that period of sprinting forward but walking back & not giving 100%. His attitude has clearly changed now though & everyone should get behind him. Boyata isn't as good a defender atm but will get better as he gets used to the Prem & is a better technical footballer, though I think the idea of him & Kolarov being the focal point of the team, in their 1st season, as people have suggested, is absolutely ridiculous. People need to give them time to settle in. If they do it quickly then great but it's unfair to expect miracles from them so soon.

Will be gone by next season, not good enough and i'm sick of him faking injuries whenever he's out of posistion just so he has an excuse why he wasn't back, he did it 3 times yesterday, each one a different part of the body.

Had a good game yesterday though.

I think everyone will now start noticing the good things Micah does, rather than continuing to focus on the bad.

I just wish he had a teeny tiny bit more quality with that delivery.

You really are a clown.

Getting all pissy because someone offers constructive criticism of the manager and then taking cheap shots against one of our own players.

Ha nice one mate. It's called a forum, and it's called debating. If i find something i don't agree with i air my views, if all you can offer when the boot is on the other foot is "you really are a clown" then you shouldn't be on here really. My opinion is that Richards is not a footballer, he is an athlete, if he wasn't 6ft and built like a brick shithouse he would never have made it as a professional footballer. He would never of been a graduate in an Italian, Dutch or Spanish academy and would most probably not be a professional footballer at the highest level now.

he is a very lucky boy that he was in the right place at the right time.

but please, if you disagree with that then do say so, if you are just going to call me a clown then please ignore me, i like to debate, it's what im on here for.

I think Micah's getting back to where he was a couple of seasons ago before he hit the gym. That takes time and I think the new regime (started under Hughes and carried on with Mancio) is coming to fruition.

He claims he didn't particularly do anything special in the gym & he's just built like that.

If you read his posts regularly you'd see he does give his views quite clearly- and that actually, he's praised Mancini countless times for a lot of the work he's done. When Mancini's made clear cut mistakes, he's criticised him. It's called impartiality. I don't understand why there have to be factions and imaginary "lickers vs. haters" when we're all fans of the same team, we all have a common goal and that's City being successful. Ted's among the best posters on this site mate and I know I'm not the only one who'll think that. It's just disrespectful to call him an idiot and a WUM.

I have also seen an improvement in Richards recently and now rate him above Zabaleta at rightback. I've been a Zabba fan since he arrived but do agree with others that Richards has realised he needs to up his game.

If he didn't improve he would waste his career in relegation battles bouncing from club to club. Now he's fighting for a first team place and putting himself in the shop window for middle of the table to Europa league teams.
I don't think he's good enough to be a first choice for contenders for the title.

My problem with Richards is that he doesn't seem to have a footballing brain.
He can do certain things very well (when he wants to) like tackle, head, sprint but when it comes to reading a game, or a player I don't think he'll ever be an "intelligent footballer".
What I mean by that is someone like Richard Dunne (just bear with me) he never had the pace of top defenders, but could read the game well and knew where to be. Although some fans started slatting him towards the end of his City career. You don't win Player of the Year 4 years in a row if you're the weak link in the side.

I hope that Richards can continue to improve, especially with the help of the coaching staff.

Surely someone at the club noticed how good he was at getting forward, but seemed lost when he got there and didn't know what to do. It's ease to start practising crossing with him, if Mancini decides to use him that way.

I loved his left footed shot in the first half. It seems like he's been taking notes from AJ.

I agree with GG. Micah is just an athlete. However, on the weekend he did his best to look like a footballer which was a great improvement on last season.

His positioning is still suspect.

I really wish he'd have scored with that shot. Would have been class.

obviously much improved display from Micah - but if you watch the build-up to the 3rd goal - you will see more of his failings in concentration and effort - he could have simply tackled Nasri - but just standing there with his hand in the air was crap

at least this time there were quite a few good points - I just cannot ever see him lose the inconsistency / lack of concentration etc - hope I am wrong but......

Micah was head and shoulders above this time.

Weird to see so many have an average game on the same day, but being down to 10 can explain that a bit.

Micah looked bloody good to me tho. That shot would have made some goal.

It took me quite a while to stop laughing after I read this.

Micah had a very good game v arsenal. I'd like him to play like that against everyone, not just the team he supported as a kid. He has come on quite a lot this season, but then again the same can be said for Kolo and Kompany as well. Micah has got a long way to go though to get back into the England team.
