Press V City: Which Corner Are You In?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Press V City: Which Corner Are You In?

Postby King Kev » Sun Nov 07, 2010 12:22 am

Have a quick read through these quality pieces of journalism;

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... dying.html

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion ... 22955.html

Then decide if this is
a) The press letting us know what is really going on at our club, or
b) A campaign to get City fans fighting and arguing amongst ourselves.

Once you have done this, simply decide if you support the British press and their extremely fair reporting of the facts, or if you support our club and put some faith in the way it's owner is going about turning us into a dominant force in the world of football.

I'm hoping that the majority of you will find this decision very easy and that we can all adopt the 'us against the world' attitude we will need to finally see our beloved club achieve something.

For those of you who chose to believe the press, maybe you should take a long hard look at yourselves!

the press are utter cunts, they are the reason that the 2018 world cup will be held in Russia, i despise them!

King Kev if you post the links and tell people to click on them, the papers get the money for each click it gets, it just feeds them to keep publishing this drivel.

That may be the case but I really think people need to open their eyes and realise how stupid they are being by falling into the traps set by the gutter press.
If the hacks get a few quid but a load of City fans suddenly wake up and start to get behind the team again, it is a small price to pay IMO.

Better still would be to copy and past the article on here with no links meaning peole still get to see the bile but they don't get paid as much for doing it.

I've read enough stories in the press to know the answer to this question without reading the links.

I don't think you'll get anybody making the wrong choice.

The British press must be the worst in the world - and that's going some.

I'll stick with MY team.

C) A constant campaign to laugh and sneer at City because they dare challenge their beloved big 4. There was NO football before 1992.

I really like the bit about two three hour training sessions a day. What football team in the world of football trains for six hours a day I tell you how many, none. How can someone who is meant to be credible in the job they do spout utter drivel!! I'm sure Doug would be homeless and wifeless if he spent six hours a day watching us train!

I grew up idolizing the freedom of speech and idolizing the irreplaceable influence of the press in the workings of "know to vote" on which democracy is based. The greatest lesson Anglosaxons did teach the world.

Nevertheless it is undoubtable we live an age of weak values, whereas everything is for sale: as a result any established power - in each and every field of the modern society - wants to be sure to control as much medias as possible. Football industry, that generates great financial turnovers in so much of the western countries is no different.
Quite everybody are aware of how much NewsCorp Group is keen to the Rags, but most of You would be astonished by listening the commentary of a U**d game on SKY Italia by mr. Marianella (the sole reliable challange to CFC, the best, the brightest sample of British fair play, bla, bla, bla...).

Then, if You add the bit of spice of abusing a Club owned by a "Bedouin" and co-managed by a "Pizza-hutter" You will find a formidable boost to the sale of a product expressly designed for weak minds.

Great thread anyway, dear KK, if a WUM patronising to_be_ignored italian like me may dare to say... :-)

The press quite simply believe their own shite half of the time, take something that is nothing add their own spin on it and make it all sound worse in the hope they have some power over influencing peoples thoughts. If we had come into money before Chelsea we wouldn't have any of this bullshit and it would be Chelsea on the receiving end of it.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

Interesting points, my friend. Given the awful history in Italy in the middle of the last century, I guess many Italians feel that way. Not sure what we teach the world anymore though mate.

You know better than me that there's no limit to the worst but - believe me - You still are in very good position in respect to us... Just consider You have turned a governament over, basically because a decent PM felt the need to confirm the traditional and logical solidariety with Your American Cousins + maybe a couple of minor corruptive episodes, while WE are titting from a criminal - also unable to set up any decent policy whatsoever - since 17 Fooklin YEARs.... :-)

I am a little surprised that we don't put somebody forward to deal with all the crap more directly than we have by just getting players to say we are behind the manager. How about 2 or 3 carefully chosen players plus Mancini to say:
1) Yes we have had the occasional extra training session but really very very few and it's crazy how the press keep regurgitating it even after being told many times it isn't an issue. Maybe ask the assembled press when the last double training session actually was?
They wouldn't have a clue.

2) Yes we have the occasional flare up between players , what club doesn't but as you will have seen in matches and in interviews it's all gone in an instant and nothing carries on.

3) Yes we have the occasional disagreement in tactical thinking ( Tevez,Newcastle game) but what's new about that.Words get spoken and we go out and win the game. We are an evolving team and these are all normal parts of what goes on.

Whatever the main press areas are to focus on just get them dealt with openly ro show they are being wildly exagerated and with smiles.

The british gutter press is a shame for the whole country imho. How they slag players and clubs off; needlessly destroying player careers etc just to sell a few copies more. The only reason why the England national team haven't been succesful the last few decades, are imo because of the gutter press - They put a tremendous amount of anxiety and stress on the players.

Herein lies the problem.

If people continue to buy these pathetic rags they will continue as they are. If they were to notice that their sales were dropping because of the shite they publish they might start publishing actual news instead.

Mickey Quinn was explaining this morning how City fans shouldn't be upset as they're 'not having a go at City' it's just that City are high profile & questions need answering such as " when's Tevez comin backh, I meen dee don't even know when ees comin bakh.."

The trouble is, if we have somone from the club answering the queries from these fucking clowns, every now & then there'll be a story which is actually true & we would either have to confirm it or tell lies, either of which would cause us more trouble than the situation as it is now.

They know that's the case with most clubs so they use it to their advantage to make up shit as & when they see fit.
