I am not sure if it is a lack of passion, but rather the total lack of freedom with which the team plays under Roberto Mancini. That was why he fared so poorly in the Champions League against British sides and why I fear we will end up well short of our potential this season. Cannot say that I am unhappy with a point, though.

i don't think passion was the problem...

our tactics were far to negative and it was obvious mancini was more concerned about not losing than actually winning the match.

i think some of the players are gonna be seriously pissd off with mancini after this

I am relieved we didn't lose, that's about the best I can say

But from mancinis point of view it was a game he couldn't afford to lose.

So I'm going for the disaster averted, plenty of time to nail 4th place and beat them at theirs feeling as I cuddle up with Teddy tonight.

The players do have passion, but everyone of them on that field had no pace and none of them was direct apart from yaya toure's 40 yard runs but he isnt that type of player!

Either mancini is waiting for january to open so he can bring in more of his own players or he really is just trying play anti football to be hard to beat, and hoping to get enough results to gurantee champions league football.

Draw against a top 4 club like United would be okay if he would trash the mid and lower table teams at least...

United were just as negative as we were, we shouldn't have given Scholes the time he had on the ball though, I would have expected more from Yaya to stop that.

The best part of the night was the previous Derby games shown on the big screens at the start. Got me really set for the game.

That's all I've got on it really.

Plus point = I've never seen United fear playing City before, they did tonight and were desperate not to lose.

Negative point = Mancini stinks of fear every week :-(

Agreed, should we had beaten the Gunners, it would had been rather different, though.

Agreed
Clearly people have short memories; Mancini obviously hasn't

Our admittedly similarly negative at COMS last season where they stole it at the death.
And that disgraceful 'stopped-clock' theft at Old Trafford.

So, I'm not condoning his approach to tonight's game.
But I can understand his reasons

When you're building a dynasty you make yourself hard to beat. In that aspect we are succeeding. Phase 1 is coming along nicely.

My river was pretty crap so in reality I only saw half the match. But from what I saw they hardly threatened and the big big big massive positive is that we didn't concede in injury time.

The filth didn't threaten our goal at all. So much for "the greatest club in the world".

It is a good point and an improvement defensively over last year.

The games we have lost this season are games in which our players have made elementary errors - Boyata's dive in on Chamakh, Richards getting the wrong side of Bent, no closing down and a poor defensive header v Posnan. No mistakes made tonight. Anybody would think football was only about attacking reading this thread.

I think Mancini values concentration, awareness and thought over passion.

unfortunately, or fortunately, for him his players are showcasing those values. I could do with a couple more spoons of passion at times tho. i think the balance will eventually be struck. Mancini might not be a good time, but the time spent will be good.

cheers

It is phase one dazby an thats why im not going mad but if we stay at phase one an win things, id rather not watch city.
