4 Points Ahead of the Chasing Pack

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

4 Points Ahead of the Chasing Pack

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:00 am

..... and we have already played every other team in top 4 + Scousepool and Tottenham. Brilliant work so far and we are right on target!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Point- and position wise I agree. I would like top see some more balls, though. Especially when playing the red scum at home.

I'm sure we all would but breaking into top 4 was the target for the season and we are clearly on target to achieve that. In the end of the day it's the results that determine whether we are success or failure.

And things could be worse, we could've just got stuffed 3-4 and gift rags the title.

It's only City the Press would slate for drawing 0-0 with Mordor United. No need for us to join them.

EXACTLY. For any other team, including Chelsea, it would be considered at least decent result.

Great post and spot on - delighted when Beckford scored as Notlob would've been three behind us otherwise.

You might want to change the title NQDP, we're 4 points ahead of the chasing pack, not behind them!

Everybody is able to read my nick.
Though, I must - bitterly - say Erik, John and some other utterly respected posters have a true point about entertainment/overcautiosness. Deny it or hidding it behind the table standings it is not fair and, as a Roberto's admirer, I feel disappointed for the temporary lack of reward all the True Blues who spent a life long in putting the Support of City ahead of their personal feelings, actually deserve.

Still, I think that when disappointment will be dusted, They all wont miss to see:
Mancini were under huge pressure: a loss at the home derby - playing a team of better quality of our filthy opponents would have been unacceptable - simply!
As much as we can hate them - we must admit Manure are a very senior (even overaged,ok) side which are more then capable to go for the throat when only offered half a chance... and Taggart went at Eastland to play [rightly and wisely] at Mancini's game.

Apart from DH, maybe, we do not have a proper taste of the overall fitness/attitude of each Player and it is undoubtable [even if very cynical] that Ade is as talented as unreliable... if yesterday he had woke up in the old Arsenal mood we would have trashed them but on the contrary....

Funnily enough, if it had been the away derby, I feel the outcome would had been more positive for us, either as result and entertainment wise.

All in all - I am sure - that all You dear Erik, John, Ted, Ant, et alias - are aware and conforted that we are still short in transition and as soon as Mancio will have another striker of his full trust City will have a steady support to Carlos, while also dealing with turning Mario in an Adult Matchwinner, imho.

Cheers all.

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

I think someone summed it up nicely - "beckford scored or notlob would have been 3 points behind us"
Lets not pack ourselves on the back too much and see where we are come the end of the season, a couple of iffy results and we could be in the bottom 10 by new year

Without sounding too harsh, it seems that many people see our situation this way. It could well be that things go pear shaped in the end but it could also be that we start pushing for the top and establish our position in top 4 in this following relatively easy run.

The things I posted on the first post are all facts though. The rest is speculation.

where were we at this stage of the season over the last 3 seasons? The first under Hughes, we were probably bottom 4, but I bet in the other two, we were about the same position and look what happened there.

Where we are on May 23rd is all that matters, but it would be nice to not be bored senseless before that as well

Hughes was in charge for two years so there was only last season and complete disaster that was season before that. I think we were 6th at this stage last season but we had only played Arsenal and rags at home at that stage of the better teams.

And what happened was that Manacini eventually guided us to 5th after we slumped to 8th under Hughes.

WOW.

It seems that many people have raised their expectations to ridiculous levels. As things stand we are very much on course to Champion's League qualification but that's obviously not enought to many people anymore.

Funny that many of those same people preached about patience before. Now that we are finally on course to do what is expected, people raise their expectations so that we will never meet them.

We will not win the league, I could've told that to people even before the season started.
