Well boo fucking hoo, a few games of football haven't gone the way you want them to. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!

We don't need the media to drag us through the dirt. You just have to come on here and read this pile of fucking shite. This is exactly what the press have been wanting you to do for six months, turn on your players and your manager. And you set of thick cunts are falling for it. I wonder sometimes, I really fucking do.

Let's look at a few facts. We are 4th in the table, a nice three-point cushion ahead of Bolton in 5th. We are still in Europe. Yes, Europe. Remember that? I do. And we qualified properly not by some fucking UEFA Fair Play bollocks. And we are joint top of the group no less. OK, we are out of the league cup but every year for the last fucking thirty-odd (bar one or two) we've been out by now anyway so no real loss there in the grand scheme of things. We are not playing well but we are fucking hard to beat even when we don't play well. My old man used to say to me, "If you can't win, then a draw is the next best thing". And he is still as right now as he was when he said it.

I make no apology for being positive, even though any kind of overall positive opinion does not seem to be de rigueur these days round these parts. I fully expect the usual knobheads (I am sure you know who you are - I certainly know who you are) to misquote me or put words in my mouth that I haven't fucking said, then come out with their usual snidey shite and whatever. Blah. But even Helen fucking Keller could see that the overall trend is upwards and I am determined to remain positive about my football team, thanks very much. If you don't want to bother, you can lick my fucking hairy ringpiece.

i'm so City obsessed...and literally Mancini gives me nothing. He's a stingy stingy cunt all the way around. Selfish, scared, defensive fucler.

Why? why does he have to be this way? it's no fun.

We are perhaps the most overrated football team in the world. We're mid-table at best on this form. I promise.

cheers

Good post. I do feel the expectancy of City fans has gone to unbelievable heights. Naturally you would expect our aspirations to rise with the huge amounts of money that's been spent but it has gone to crazy levels.

As I was watching that game just then, a player could be surrounded by a few Birmingham players, he passes it backwards and the fans start booing.

You seem like a nice calm reasonable fella. :- O

You're right we are still 4th, and since the rags dropped points today it's not the end of the world. I do wonder though whether you think that performances are improving under Roberto. After all, he's been manager nearly 12 months now. He'd pretty much sorted the problem with the back 4 leaking too many goals within a couple of months of pitching up. Since then I personally I haven't seen any great improvement in either our passing, movement, or general attacking play. That's just an observation because I certainly am not calling for the manager's head. I think Roberto needs to have a long hard think this week about whether his way of playing is in fact going to lead us to glory.

In all the years I've been watching City, about 35, I've seen some dross, but this takes the biscuit.
In the past, I could excuse the team because of the lack of quality players, but there is no such excuse now. The players we have are all very capable of running rings around the likes of Birmingham and, yes, the scum last week.
The manager set s his team to play the way he sees fit. the players carry out the managers instructions. That's it. Therefore there is only one person responsible for this shite.
Get him out.

Tokyo adding some sanctimonious bullshit to the pile of fucking crap spouted by those (mainly by previously anti-Hughes idiots) frantically trying to convince everyone that the increasingly clueless Mancini is the answer.

I like Bobby a lot as an individual, don't want him sacked but dickheads trying to tell me and others that we are mad/reactionary/naive/foolish to question Mancini......well you can all fuck off

This.
Is it too much to ask of Mancio that we should beat teams like Birmingham and Blackburn at home ?? We wont be 4th for long if we keep playing this way. It can be as early as next week as we play Fulham away and I don't see us beating them and would be lucky to get a point.

Can't you just feel those boots ging into Tokyo's head....ouch!!! and tonight while the emotions and disappointment is running high, it is probably just as he expected. The thing is that in much of what he says, he is right.

Mancini's target is top 4 (that is also our owner's target too)...He is under instructions to achieve that above anything else. He considers with the squad he has, if he plays a certain way, he will achieve that aim. Won...6, Drew...4, Lost...3, added to the fact that we are in the top 4 and there is a gap between us and 5th position, shows that those tactics have been largely successful.

Very simplistically, the philosophy is that if we don't concede, we cannot lose. We have achieved 7 clean sheets and in only 3 games in the 13 played, we have conceded more than 1. The only occasion we have conceded more than 2 goals was v Arsenal when we played almost the whole game with only 10 men. Like it or not, our defensive strategy has been successful as a defensive strategy.

The reactions of City fans and the media would have us believe that we have failed as an attacking force. We have failed to score in 5 games (only losing 2 of those games), scored 1 in 3 games (only losing 1 of those games), scored 2 in 3 games (winning all those games) and scored 3 in 2 games (winning both games). Mancini's strategy for not losing games has usually been successful.

The strategy, simply put, is that "we limit our opponents goalscoring and hope that the talent we have up front will get at least 1 goal for us" has been successful in 6 games and has stopped us losing in 4 games....again, that strategy has been largely successful. That success has been largely due to the scoring feats of Tevez. Now it seems that Tevez isn't 100% and we have a problem scoring. Mancini is well aware of that too and that problem is already being actively addressed, with the targetting of a number of World class strikers.

The arguments on here tend to revolve around "boring" or "negative" football. Whether the fans are being entertained or not is not something that is on the Mancini (owners/) agenda at the moment (temporary?) That agenda is solely to gain CL qualification. A small group are beginning to call for his head, They are judging Mancini on what is happening now, before he has managed to complete his squad building. We have suffered the defensive tripe, we have endured the midfield going backwards, we may only have a short time to wait until the strikeforce he wants is in place.

None of us know what Mancini will do when he has his chosen strikers in place. It would be a fair guess that the side will be far more defence/attack balanced. That will be the right time to make a definitive judgement on Mancini. If he fails then with all his bricks stacked up, we will then know he hasn't done the job.

At present we are only half cooked. It may taste good when it finally comes out of the oven.

Excellent post John. Well thought out and delivered. Then again, you are KIND of a delivery man ;-)

It all still comes back to whether we will find that balance. I'm starting to think we won't. That's why I'm getting concerned. I haven't given up yet, but it can't continue. The last guy got sacked for a similar points tally and I was enjoying the football for the most part. So I don't think its unfair to raise some of the issues I have of late.

Do you?

Having written that, don't think for one moment I am actually enjoying waiting for a possible change in tactics. I love my City teams going forward and entertaining. I am suffering this just as much as the next bloke.

I just believe that building a team is a long term project and we as fans should allow that longer term more time to develop before making our definitive judgement. If Mancini has all his bricks stacked up and there is no improvement, I will be quick to state that he should be replaced....But not yet!...Still far too early.
