There have been training sessions where Ade has been excellent and yes he hasn't quite hit the heights more recently but I would definitely NOT say he has become lazy or anything like that.

I found it interesting to hear Bellers saying that Carlos is the same in training as he is in matches as that's never what I have seen. That sounds like I am being critical which I am not but the sort of training they do simply doesnt lend itself to Carols playing in the same way. Most "football games" are small sided on small pitches and if he raced around chasing the ball he would just crash into people as there is so little space. Basically they never play stuff on a full pitch in a match type scenario.Much of what they do is about pass and move in tight situations and when the move part is right ( along with a good touch) they can be awesome as we saw on Sunday.

As you know I don't go to watch training and come back with a report on who was rubbish or not trying. Maybe I should do that. I will have to think about it tomorrow.

Personally i dont think that would be very good idea Doug.. or fair really. Mentioning the stand out players does the job.

As for Ade and citing your reports, it is to show that basically as we all know he can be unstoppable, but to seriously get into the team and Mancini's plans he has to do that on a pretty regular basis. Otherwise he is not showing himself to be reliable and trustworthy. If he can step it up in training when he wants, then he has to continue to do that so that Mancini pretty much has no choice but to play him eventually.

It seemed to me reading between the lines that the Arsenal game was coming up, so he gets his finger out in training and as a result got the start v Posnan and scored, but then when he didn't get the call v Arsenal he seems to have sunk back to his usual level. Thats why i asked you about him, because if he doesn't step it up he wont get a start unless Bob is desperate.

I fear there is truth in what you said. An Arsenal friend of mine laughed when they sold him to us and laughed again when I suggested he can be world class which I firmly believe he can be on his day.

I recall a conversation I had with Mark Bowen last year when he recalled how superbly he had started the season last year. His stats on sprints, distance covered and the like were amazing but then they fell away. The pure talent is obvious but getting the 100% effort alongside had stopped happening and they had their work cut out to get him firing again.

I think it's very hard to motivate somebody who is earning in the region of £7 mil a year with no bonus scheme to give him a lift. He most probably has a huge ego as well which does not bode well when he is only really getting a run-out in the Europa Cup. He obviously believes that he should be playing in every game, regardless, and clearly has a chip on his shoulder because he isn't.

Personally, I think he's putting the effort in with regard to football training as he will most certainly enjoy that part, but it is his physical and conditioning training that is letting him down - i.e. inside work on the CV. I also believe that his agent is one of those forcing the issue (if he doesn't play, he's off) which leads to rift's with the management and further consequences to his playing time. I honestly do see him going and personally wouldn't blame him, or the club, for a possible January move.

Well it is a bit of a shame perhaps.. more for him i would say. He is no doubt a complex character, but City should be able to offload him quite easily to a club he actually wants to play for and re-coup the majority of his fee, so imo he has had his chances to get back in there this season and has blown it, come january he could be gone if we can line up someone half decent.
