For fucks sake, I have been one of the biggest Jo apologist around here but fact is he is softer than my nana.

Maybe but the fact is he do ok yesterday and you saying we played with 10 men is just a tad silly.

I've both slagged him when he was being a wanker & pleaded for him to be given another chance since he's tried but I agree he is as soft as shite. On the plus side though; he's as as soft as very firm shite now wheras it was liquid shite in the past.

I think he did a good job for the team yeterday though & showed some good touches amongst occasional pansy like behaviour.

Surely we can see him as a slowly improving asset that is there when needed. He is only young and in the squad we need someone who is not going to be playing all the time and doesn't moan. Unless we bring in someone else or promote an EDS player then he serves a purpose. In his defence he looks like he has realised that he needs to just work and City is a good place to do that.

if we replace RSC with someone decent then Jo will still be a fallback during injuries and available for Europa and Cup games.

As for the OP, i would prefer Milner and just see him as needing time to bed in.. just relax a bit tbh.

I think having a forward in that position rather than a grafter makes a big difference to the team & gives us more forward momentum. I don't like Milner there. Rather see him as a Barry replacement or as a replacement for Nige in a more attacking team.

yeah, i would go for that.
Where i would differ would be the emphasis on the difference it makes to the team mentality as you suggest. Milner can play the one two's etc and be the man available on the outside to pull the defence, also can get crosses in. So i dont see the magic difference that Jo makes to the mentality, personally.

We definatley haven't seen the best of Milner.. my own view is that he is just trying a bit to hard to possibly try and justify his tranfer fee. needs to just chill out a bit.

Jo will be looking 1st to take up attacking positions & scoring positions as it's in his nature. When the ball's on the right, Jo's 1st thought on the left will be to get in the box or an area from whch he can score. None of our wide players do that very well. That gives the whole attacking move more options & the opposing defenders more movement to worry about. That's what Balotelli gives us even more so & what Bellamy would have given us. Jo, being tall, is also an out ball under pressure. Makes a big big difference to the outlook of the team all the way back to the keeper.

Fair dues i can see your point there now, i think i am tending to dismiss Jo's effectiveness at that.. because he is Jo basically, but that is unfair tbh, and he did adopt those positions as you point out. Quite ironic though that he was often completely ignored by both the Fulham defence and our own.. Tevez for example at least twice.. Jo was unmarked with his hands in the air.
I take the point though in relation to Milner and agree that Balotelli will be at another level.

I thought Jo did rather well yesterday and a lot of you have mentioned how so I wont go into details. However one thing I have noticed about Jo is that in a similar way that a lot on this forum think he falls down too easily (probably because his centre of balance is rather high compared to, say, Tevez), I think also the Refs have that impression and therefore ignore to grant fouls commited against him even if they are legitimate.
One example was the tackle he received late in the 2nd half and he fell holding his leg. The replay showed there was contact and even if the Fulham player did get some of the ball, his trailing leg took out Jo. For something rather similar, Zabba got a yellow card !!

I was reading the MEN on the train tonight and there were some pretty complimentary comments from readers or posters to the MEN site, as you can probably imagine. That said, three people singled Jo out for abuse.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Jo involved in three of the four goals? He might not have laid on the final ball but he was definately involved in the build up.

What is it with some City fans? Why do they always need to get on someones back? Even after the most convincing team performance of the season, why do a certian minority of our fanbase need to single someone out for stick?

From my vantage point ( in the pub !), I thought Jo had an excellent game. Also, I've never singled Jo out for critisism . He's not always played motm games but he started allright for City and then Hughes inexplicably dropped him.

I think he can do a job for us. In my opinion he should start next weekend. Never change a winning team etc. At least we can then bring Mario on when the kicking has stopped. Although, if city pass the ball as sweetly at Stoke as we did yesterday it won't really matter because Stoke won't get a look in.

Just watched the highlights again, got to say he did well, had a hand in three of the goals. Did lose the ball unnecessarily sometimes though. Definitely deserves another start at Stoke.

Watching that third goal again though. It was beautiful.

Just think the extra intensity and physicallity of Stoke´s game will be too risky for Jo -can´t afford any passengers so Milner for me

I think Balotelli will be in but agree Milner should play, interesting team selection ahead.
