Yes you must of been watching a different game

Please remind me what he actually did.

Managed to look good in a piss poor England team who were totally outclasses for 90 minutes. Won headers against a world class centre back, held the ball up netter than the majority of players in his position for England have managed. Gave himself a definite place in the next england squad

Fair one, but I think he just looked crap in a crap team.

Prefer Dzeko or Benzema... but a good 3rd choice (even though he won't be sold in the near future methinks:).

I'm not saying I wouldn't rather have benzene (not really seenuch of dzeko at all and I'm not just gonna jump on the mcf.net bandwagon) just think Carroll is a different type of player from what we have as all our supposed target men either can't hold the ball up or can't win the ball in the air! Carroll so gar this season has done both brilliantly

Very true, but Carroll appears to be a good blend of utter arrogance backed up with strength and skill.

As someone above noted, if he keeps his head, he'll be a star.

Its of little consequence, but he absolutely murdered us last month or so. Upson practically subbed himself.

Balotelli? Don't think we need any more mercurial headcases tbh. Do like Carroll from what I've seen of him so far though.

He's a big lump of misogynistic neanderthal. It's all going for him onthe pitch at the moment but I'll be surprised if it lasts, long term.

Can't believe we're even discussin signing him tbh but hey ho it's da interwebz innit.

He wasn't even in the newcastle team at the start of last seasons championship season!

He's a midtable premier league team player! If we're looking for young british talent then look no further than albrighton at villa

(See Jay fucking Boothroyd last night when Johnson set him up)

Very very promising player but still unproven. Can't see how the present manager would know how to use him though, it would involve 2 strikers & crosses, tactics which only work for philistines like rags, Chelsea & Spurs, oh & now Arsenal since they signed Chamakh.

Seeing as we're even worse than England at crosses, (he got 0 he could use last night), all he would be is an excuse for defenders to lump the ball up the pitch, when the midfield runs out of ideas (ie after 5 mins v rags/Birmingham).

Steve Howey once "headed" the ball in the back of the net with his foreskin! I still wouldn't have him (back)!

Anyonre remember that goal by the way?

It must be in there somewhere but I've expunged most of Steve Howey's City career from my memory. It took a while but I managed it.

I watched Carroll pre match v City & twice, he controlled the ball in the air, flicked it over his shoulder & volleyed it into the net from a good 30 yards out then strolled off. He had a real presence to him that reminded me of the old days. I looked at our lot at the other end casually hammering the ball into the North stand & I thought hmmm....

Played 39 league games for Newcastle last season, including the opener against West Brom.

But hey, facts are for other people, right?

This season Apps:11(+2 as sub) Goals:7

Sounds like a conversation on this lad is well worth while and the "rather have..." crowd should comment in the "Money has changed us thread" with agreement for the OP.

Agreed 100%. There are no gurantees with young players but Caroll has been one of the best in the country at every level of his development so far & is now doing it in the Prem.

I agree with him on Albrighton though. Early days but currently Albrighton is a better wide player than anyone at our club & has a quality final ball. He should have been in the full England team v France imo. I would offer Villa; Bridge, SWP + half their wages + cash for him.

Apologies just checked the stats and he started 35 of their games last season. I was near sure he didn't really get a run into the team towards christmas/new year time onwards

Absolute cack again yesterday and I cant believe people were touting him for City. Much worse than Adebayor and just imagine the bile-filled threads if he'd put on a performance like that for City.

Incredible.

Carroll scores alot, and also gets his fair share of assists. Corradi assisted in routines for celebrating other peoples goals

He was garbage yesterday but unusually garbage imo rather than typically. The same could be said of the whole Newcastle team; something didn't look right. It looked as if they'd all been on the piss or something. I think they've done really well since being promoted but they seemed to be lacking in effort, including Carrol & it was a relegation performance. Strange.
