Balotelli

If I were him now I would be thinking this is my chance to show my true potential. He will be our main striker now and in theory should get more chances. Can he step up? Too much to soon? Thoughts?

I'm one of Balos biggest fans...but as much as I love the moody twat he cannot take the responsibility for our goals on his own

We need two strikers desperately

I have no doubt Balo will score a few in the second half of the season...but to be honest id rather him as an impact player coming off the bench

As my bird commented last night when i told her about Tevez "I bet Mario is cavorting in a bath or champagne with a couple of blondes, smoking a cigar and toasting his good fortune"

In a perfect world he would be coming off the bench but I really can;t see Tevez playing for us again (perhaps im wrong) and think we will struggle to replace him with someone in January. Adebayor is as good as gone so realistically we need him to deliver the goods. A lot of pressure for sure but maybe his arrogance and "Im not arsed by anything" approach could help here.

Especially, as my father noted, since Carlos didn't seem like passing the ball to him anytime during the last few matches. It just looked like he was avoiding to pass the ball to him on purpose, he preferred to charge the defense on his own.

I think Balo is too mad to give a flying fook.

He doesn't strike me as the sort who'll think 'oh, what a great opportunity, I must grasp the nettle'......

You are right - the statements made about"..young players..." must have been related to Balo - the reluctance to pass to him has been very clear - and I was worried that Silva was getting caught up in it - I would not be surprised if Silva and Carlos became quite close

I think being taken off ahead of Balo was another issue to make Carlos explode

Hopefully (on the assumption that we have seen Carlos's last game) this will change and if so I think that Balo could really step up

Tevez is one of the most selfish players around. Rarely looks for a pass. Thankfully he often made something happen by not passing but at times it was as frustrating as hell watching him.

if we are left with balotelli as the main striker, that's any chance of the title utterly pissed away by tevez. mario has got problems, it's really unpleasant to watch. the owners have got to go out and spend big on one main striker in january...and i reckon they will.

Yep - he won't be thinking "this is good news for me to really show what I am worth"
he'll be thinking "I am ballo - I am the mutts nuts!" as usual :D

Can't agree that it is any chance of a title down the drain. Mario is pure talent ... let's not forget that he hasn't even played 10 games in the prem yet has he? He's already proven he can score and he has the talent. He's definitely a head case ... but as we've found out tevez is no different. Balotelli will find form and he will be banging them in for fun. And to be perfectly honest ... he thorws a lot of fits, but he doesn't get any protection from the refs, which is frustrating.

Mario will be top scorer for us this year with or without Tevez and with a few more sending offs.

I love Balotelli and his talent but making him the main man might be a step too big for him right now. He needs someone to work up front with him, then he will give us his best performances and will learn the English game better at the same time. In a couple seasons, maybe, he will be mature enough to be our main striker.

you reckon he will be here that long? there seems to be a trend at the moment for expensive forwards.

Jury is out. First impressions are that he is a mercenary and his attitude stinks - towards teammates, the club and us fans. Would love to be proved wrong. I think he needs some serious PR help and lessons on how to behave on the pitch.
