Where next for the peanut headed magician I wonder? The casul ball wasting final nail in Hughsie's coffin? A half hearted headlong dash for relegation in Maradona's Blackburn side? Disappointing link up with a cardboard cut out of Torres at Liverpool?

Perhaps Arsenal or Utd will jump in for him? After all they were keen to sign him from City.

The agents were drafted in at Sven's behest originally to help him bring in a raft of players quickly. Kia got his claws into Thaksin, and later Cook, by dangling carrots like Ronaldinho in front of them at a time when it was an outlandish thought that a player like that would move to City.

Cook's experience during that particularly bitter wrangle (the Kia/Ronaldinho/Sven one) should have been warning enough that this type of agent should play zero part in any transfer we get involved in. What happened is that Cook didn't heed the warning, and continued to allow Kia to essentially swan around the transfer world acting as City's mouthpiece right up until Carlos pitched up at COMS in the summer of 2009. It's only been since then that Kia's slowly become persona non grata. That' why I sort of think Cook has to carry some of the blame for this situation.

As an aside, does anybody of a copy of the story from today's Times about Cook/Kia/Tevez? I don't pay Murdoch to read his papers online and don't live in the UK so can't just nip down the newsagents and buy a hard copy.

Henry Winter must have deja vu. Article from May 2009

Tevez can stay, delighting Old Trafford and neutrals with his skill and spirit, while his strange owner can find another league to embarrass. And when he does leave, the footballing authorities here will lobby Fifa and Uefa to launch an investigation into his activities.

The Tevez/Joorabchian story is a very modern footballing parable: a talented star, who just loves playing for the adrenalin and the glory, lands from overseas under the wing of a profit-seeking businessman/owner.

Three seasons on, English football still reels from their arrival, from the fallout of third-party ownership, West Ham's controversial survival in the Premier League, Sheffield United's relegation, legal action, rental agreements, and now the impasse between United and Joorabchian with negotiations on hold until after the Champions League final.

Joorabchian's odyssey through English football, making money and headlines, cannot end soon enough. The question constantly being asked within the Premier League and the Football Association is "who regulates Joorabchian?''

He is occasionally described as an agent, was briefly involved in the failed bid to lure Kaka from AC Milan to Manchester City, but is not licensed. He is an owner of footballers.

Third-party ownership is now illegal in England because, as one high-ranking official explains, "it is an unedifying trade in young people that rips the heart out of clubs which try to develop players, sell them and reinvest in more player development''.

No one is suggesting that Joorabchian does not have his clients' best interests at heart. He sold Javier Mascherano to Liverpool, a move that has worked out brilliantly for all parties.

If they truly want Tevez, United should be able to push through a deal but their concerns about negotiating with a businessman, not a football club, are understandable.

United's chief executive, David Gill, is a respected figure at both the FA and the Premier League, two institutions which admit to deep disquiet about Joorabchian. If United offer Joorabchian £15 million for Tevez, the money goes straight out of football.

Is Tevez worth it? This is a striker who has scored only five Premier League goals, albeit two hugely important ones in the past week. Joorabchian claims another club have offered £40 million; if this is true, and there is no reason to doubt Joorabchian, then he should really take that sort of largesse in such straitened times.

For United, much may depend on whether Cristiano Ronaldo goes. If Joorabchian lowers his demands, a hard-working striker like Tevez is worth buying.

But will the Argentine be the same hungry, cause-chasing competitor when he secures a permanent deal? Yes. Tevez has long been synonymous with giving his all for the team. Tevez is worth keeping, particularly if it means Joorabchian going.

Some interesting observations and info on the whole thing here, Goose's comments particularly.

The point made that Joorabchian needed an escape route planned out before this is imo extremely valid, otherwise he is ditching basic principles that he would be a total fool to do.

I was kind of fairly convinced that there is /was something behind this that has as yet not come to light. If you take the basic positions of those involved and what they stand to gain, it gives a fairly clear idea of the motivations. Obvious and simplified ones are.
Tevez not happy to be so distant from his girls. - If it could be engineered that he had a family life he would take it.
Joorabchian is in it for money - if it can be engineered that he would get a lump he would take it. Sub agendas are keeping his client happy and perhaps as suggested doing one over on City.

Put the two motivations together and it is not difficult to see that between them they could 'influence' each other.

The big missing part is the escape route. City don't play along, they hold all the legal cards and cant be held to ransom, apart from with Tevez's footballing prowess. Maybe they expected City to get beat by WHU, had the statement planned and then went ahead anyway at full time.
The key is that they know that City are no normal institution, there is no way of financially twisting their arm. There must be an escape route already planned out. Even if they have an escape route they are gambling that City will play ball at a moral level at some point and agree to a transfer, City can very easily just sit on Tevez or take the two of them to the cleaners.
If they thought that some escape route would appear when this all hit the news and someone would rush in to save Tevez, then they are gambling to the extent that they are total idiots and have imo dropped a complete and utter bollock.

I dont think that Joorabchian is that stupid even under pressure from Tevez to do something. There is more to come out of this yet and i would not be surprised yet if it didn't involve Real Madrid.

The most obvious move would be Real Madrid, but I think they are also counting on the other team from madrid as a way out of this. The way I see it Tevez is thinking this:

Either I get more money, or I get a move to spain (RM or AM) or I retire.

Kia is thinking this: Either he gets more money or he gets a move to spain (RM or AM or Barca). He is prob. thinking RM have the cash or talent to swap and AM have a strong bond with City so City will prob. ship him off there if they realise they will have to take a loss on this.

Ok, but more money is not going to make much difference to Tevez or his basic situation. Spain would as he may be able to persuade his family to move there.

Joorabchian as said can only be after money, keeping his client happy and perhaps dicking City. That is fine or whatever, but City dont have to realise they need to take a loss. The only grounds that City have to do anything is on moral grounds that they would be being a bit heartless with Tevez if they say threw him in the reserves and threatened to sue him if he doesn't turn up.
