Warming to him. Thoroughly professional this season and even had a touch of class about him last night. No doubt he has ability, rememebr he was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe when we signed him. Hopefully we can see him fulfil his potential.

Agree with ant and CitizenYank, his off the ball work is really showing promise, he is using his noggin and makinf spaces for others. Also his work rate, tracking back and making challenges. Now all that seems to me to be a complete change as far as i can remember. I think he knows where the net is tbh too and has gotten into some great positions only not to get the pass.
Of the strikers we have wasting space he is the one we should keep, he is getting better and is not moaning. As a second / third choice he is about perfect really and once he gets his confidence back he could really be quite useful.

My take is that he just was not suited to the prem at all and lost his confidence completely. But Mancini gave him the chance to kind of start again, go back to basics and build up what he needed to do. He really looks like he is doing that. He should have had a hat trick last night no doubt about it. If and when he gets his real confidence back by netting one or two of those chances he will be a really useful player. I could easy see him being a kind of super sub by the end of this season.

So far hats of to Mancini for sticking his neck out with Jo and obviously working with him to improve.

I've liked him since ... the summer. Not complained one sec. about not getting gametime and always makes the right moves. The fact that he has not put em in a whole lot yet does not matter as if he keeps making the runs he does and be at the right place at hte right time he WILL score alot:-)

Agreed, look at United they always have sh*t players who they keep and become very useful. Fletcher and Nani for example. Maybe with the right guidance Jo could prove to be a useful player for us.

I like Jo. Could have followed elano and subinhos attitudes but chose to fight. Well in.

I sort of agree but also think he would be gone by now if anyone actually wanted him

I think mancini wants to keep him, and I think he will. Jo will be around as long as mancini is and I think that is a good thing, as he has only gotten better and improved pretty much every facet of his game. It speaks to his natural ability that he was able to recover from Hughes' ineptitude, some very talented players never recover from mis-management early in their careers. I don't think he is a world beater, but I don't see any reason why he couldn't become a very good player, and an important part of a deep squad as well.

Think he did a good job again yesterday, some good holding up of the ball, coming back to fight for the ball and providing a decent outlet with some nice touches. One howler of a shot I can remember but again he got in some decent positions and could have had a goal or two if people had played a very easy ball to him.

EDIT....it was also his run across the D as AJ was making that diagonal run that pulled the centre half away and prevented him from tracking Johnson.

I would absolutely keep hold of him on current evidence.

Barmy

I think he looks a great player in what ive seen of him of the tv great touches and has great pace.

Nothing like showing players support eh?
Why not give him a chance? He's vastly improving and who knows maybe could come good. He is far from 'pap'.

He still needs to build up his core strength so that he doesn't fall over so easy. But yeah, doing ok.

i think he's been played out of position in several cases, and the tactics fit his style of play much better now. Everton used his as a lone striker FFS - when he was successful in Russia it was as a support striker making runs behind the defense with a midfielder pulling the strings. he may be tall, but he's no great header of the ball - he needs to be played where he'll be successful.

Now we have Silva pulling the strings - i think of the AJ goal against West Ham, and that's the type of run Jo will make. not a world beater by any means, but a solid squad player - tailor made as cover for injuries and for Europa League matches. glad to see him getting some time, and making decent use of it.

When he stops tippy toeing I'll have more confidence that he is one to keep. I'm hoping he'll adapt but I see nothing at all yet to be too optimistic. He can cross the ball pretty well wehn he has time. Everything else needs to improve imo and may do with confidence. Fair play to Mancini for trying to develop the lad though. If it works it'll be a sign of a very decent manager...I wonder how long he'll give him to get there though.

BTW I still see Caicedo as being a much better prospect and would love him to return in January (if his loan deal allows).

I have supported him all year, but yesterday's goal was the end of it for me. If hadn't of scored we would have had a home Europa League match when I am in Manc...

Ok, all kidding aside, he has actually he has played great (in the sense he is doing exactly what he is asked to do and with a GREAT attitude, maybe he can rub off on Mario and Carlos). It was his run at WHU that opened up the center for Silva to get the ball to AJ for his goal as well.

Clearly is worthy of a depth player on our club.

People are being hard on him. I watched him when he played along side with Pato in Brazil youth national team. IMO, he was better than Pato. After that, Pato stays with Milan, Jo played for the Russians. If Jo had been with a decent club, he could have developed just like Pato now.

Yep, I'm warming to him, also
But I hope he works hard on building up his physique; I'm always concerned that his limbs will fold in on themselves whenever he's the victim of a crunching tackle.

When have you ever known him get remotely close to anyone doing crunching tackles?
