And what if Guidetti is worse? We should make the team worse while challenging for the title just to 'give a kid a chance'?

Only twice. However, Jo is pretty fucking useless, and should not be given another game unless we have absolutely no choice. Guidetti is supposed to be our best young striker, and as such should be given a chance to prove himself.

Bob sees them both playing every day. If he deserves his chance he'll get it!

How does Bob see him train every day when the EDS train at the same time as the first team squad and he won't be watching them from 300 yards away whilst coaching! Every so often he will invite him to join him but it isn't very frequent.

Calm down dear! You still sore about your mates getting the sack?
If he doesn't see Guidetti train 'every day' then I'm sure he'll still get a report from whoever does.

Remember - the club has stated that the academy is the future and will be invested in heavily. What's the point if young players like Guidetti, who are obviously chomping at the bit to play never get a game because of the likes of Jo?

I think he'll fall short of the standard we require but that's no certainty & I could also imagine him going totally the other way & becoming a star. He has a lot going for him. For him to leave & then become a top player elsewhere without us even finding out about him would be a monumental fuck up.

We should already have some idea of his capabilities because he should have been featuring a lot more on the bench. Instead we've persevered with below average players & declined to give him a decent chance. If he was more involved, he wouldn't be having 2nd thoughts about signing. There was no need for this situation to arise, unless it's all part of the charity work for the Jo foundation.

I'm sure Bob knows what he's doing. The reason Guidetti's not been featuring much with he first team might simply be because he's not good enough. Don't forget that the step from the reserves and playing for Burnley in the Championship to the Premier League is huge. Just look at other academy graduates that have featured off and on the last couple of years ... What are they doing now?

Clayton hasn't made it at Leeds yet and has been on loan to Peterborough.
Logan has been loaned out to lower league clubs. He's had trials at the Blades, at Doncaster and at Watford.
Ched Evens. Playing for Sheffield United.
Miller is on loan from WBA to QPR.
Williamson is a free agent.
Schmeichel is at Leeds.

I'm sorry but those players have no relevence to Guidetti whatsoever. You could just as easily mention Micah, Ned, Ireland, SWP, etc, all of whom have been decent PL players. Guidetti has no connection to them but he has the same non connection to any of the players you mentioned.

If I had to bet on it I would say Guidetti won't make it at the top prem level BUT the way of finding out would have been to have him in the squad more and on the bench so that a few cameos would give more idea of his ability level. If we don't give him a decent contract and more importantly he doesnt get chances I think it safe to say that Mancini has made his decision.

Right or wrong it's pretty clear that Mancini makes decisions about players and seem to stick with them.

Yes, I was a bit selective when choosing those graduates. But the point stands: It's a huge step from from the reserves to the prem and the most obvious reason as to why Guidetti hasn't gotten that many chances is that the coaching staff doesn't think he is ready to take that step yet.

As for the players you mention, although a few years older than Guidetti and totally non-connected to him, none of them is exactly cutting the mustard at City at the moment (Micah being the exception).

I don't understand why you're so against people mentioning Jo. He is the player currently getting a job in the 1st team squad ahead of, Bellamy, Guidetti, SWP, Ireland, Adebayor, Weiss etc. It's a very very big part of what's currently happening at City & just as worthy of discussion as the signing & performance of Dzeko or Balotelli. He's playing regularly for City in preference top other players. Just because he's not a new signing doesn't mean he's not as relevent to our squad. Each time one of the other players leaves or is discussed as being worthy of a place, his replacement in the squad, Jo, is the one who is compared. He is a very important factor in our squad & a totally understandable & non controversial subject for discussion.

I don't mind people mentioning him. But to blame any player for a kid not getting a chance is very very naive and maybe a bit ignorant. If people like Jo, when picked, were to say to Bob "You know what, I'd rather you gave one of the kids a chance. Don't pick me!" Then everyone here would be saying 'What's this cunt doing picking up a wage from us and refusing to play?!'

But people don't mean it Jo's fault personally, they mean it's because Bob has preffered to use him rather than players who may be better, including Guidetti. It would get a bit long winded if people qualified every mention of Jo with a rider specifying it.

While I would not select Jo if I were the manager, nor would any of us on the site from the comments everyone posts about him, Mancini is the only one who can actually make the decision, and if he prefers Jo to Guidetti there must be a reason; one we are not privy to, and for this we have to simply accept the manager's decision. It does get baffling when he selects Jo ahead of Adebayor, to be fair, but maybe it's because Jo has given him the ok to do a job on the left wing, one that maybe Adebayor and Guidetti are not fit to do or don't want to do?

We really don't have to accept it mate. We can look at it & decide whether or not we think he's right or whether he's made a mistake. If we don't sign a replacement for Ade, we will probably be seeing a fair bit of Jo & a very great deal of him if we pick up a couple of injuries. If he plays well, then at the end of the season we can all say how clever Bob was. If he struggles to attain mediocrity, as he has in 95% of his City performances, Bob deserves a great deal of criticism for what would amount to a huge gamble or almost negligence & if it ends up costing us, it's close to a sackable offence, although I wouldn't advocate that.

Hopefully Bob won't be gambling our season on players staying fit & will bring in another player so we don't need to use Jo too often.

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?
