I would have given Jo a free transfer and sign Lukaku. We seem short of pace at full back and would also like Luiz. Why wait, bed them in now and then next season we will be ready from the first game. But I doubt there is time now. Plus I think Toure could do a job a right back and then we could play Boateng or Lescott in the middle.

Wonder if Shaun regrets listening to his step-dad and rejecting that offer - obviously was not an 'insult' - he is not getting offered as much for as long by anyone else

I bet City regret offering it!

Phew!

David Gonzales gone to Leeds!

Manchester City goalkeeper David González Giraldo has joined Leeds United on loan, with a view to a permanent deal Sky Sports News is reporting.

The 28-year-old has struggled to make the transition into Manchester City’s multi-million pound first team and seen his opportunities limited to reserve team action. However, the Columbian has been in impressive form for City’s reserves and attracted the attention of several clubs this season.

I like the way chelsea buy torres and it will "spur" drogba on but if we buy someone "how will they manage all these EGO's" and we are ruining football.

I do think city can take credit for players like carroll costing iiverpool £35,000,000. Fucking astronomical fee for that slow lanky twat. Torres on current form would be worth £12,000,000 and on past for maybe £30,000,000.12.

Football is broken.

That's very precise mate, where'd the 12 pence come from?

Seen this on skysports. I seen him play a few times at the world cup but didn't really stand out.

Any Italians or followers of Italian football have an opinion on him?

I'd like him and would have him tomorrow.

In my (frequently misguided) opinion he would seem to be in a similarish mould to David Silva; confident in possession, nippy with good dribbling skills and tricks and quite industrious with a good turn of speed when he has the ball at his feet. Defensively he's no Nigel de Jong but if Tevez were to leave in this coming summer, I'd love to see him with Silva, playing just behind Dzeko with the big man as the main focal point of our attacks (might be a modern day Berkovic-Ali B type combination......well, at least one can dream).

His age (early twenties) seems to fit our profile and I, for one, would hope Bobby Manc goes for him, although it would be interesting to see what valuation he would command against a background of the FFP regulations being imminent.

On a completely different tack, I was listening (shamefully) to Talksport yesterday as excitement of the Torres-Carroll saga gripped the presenters there and carried them away into paroxysms of exultation; so much so that one of the muppets triumphantly declared "If you want to be big time, you've got to spend big and that's just what Chelsea and Liverpool are doing......" (or words near to that effect).

Instead of thinking how profound such a statement was (or should it be wasn't ?), it just sickened me that they'd conveniently forgotten all about the stick they've been giving City over the last couple of years over our spending, just to jump on the Chelsea-Liverpool bandwagon and to praise them for it.

In a perverse way, however, it almost made me relieved that both the Carroll and Torres fees exceeded the previous record for Robinho, so that's something that can't now be dragged out of the woodwork, whenever it suits, to hit us over the head with any more.
