Shall we just go for it???

Postby colonel_muck » Sun Feb 06, 2011 6:03 pm

I know we'll play for a 0-0 next saturday, in my opinion a mistake especially there of all places. I can't help but think with them losing their unbeaten record we should just gun at them and see what happens. It ain't gonna happen though is it? If we beat them it blows the title race right open, with them still to go down the emirates, and play chelsea twice, as well as a trip to a noisy anfield. Come on City, the onus is on you!!!

It makes it really interesting , but I would take a point right now.

The Scum are going to win it , Arse will be second , Chelski,Spuds and us for 3rd,4th and 5th , but Liverpool could have a big say in it.

We have to win 6 out of 7 home games and get points at Scum,Liverpool,Everton,Chelski,Blackburn,Bolton.

Really tough

With that Chelsea defeat there is a little chink of light opened up and I'd love Bobby to look at the table tonight and think fuck it..let's go at them..but I can't see it happening

There is not a fucking chance he will go for it...out will come the defensive midfielders and tevez upfront on his jack.

Keep tight in the first half, go for it in the second.

For me, Dzeko has to play - especially if Snoop Duck is still injured. Make life difficult for Johnny Evans.

I'd go for this:

---------------------------------Hart

Richards---------------Kolo----------Komps-----------------Zabaleta

--------------------------------De Jong

-----------------------Milner------------Barry

----------------Tevez--------------------------Silva

---------------------------------Dzeko

But I imagine we'll line up like this:

-----------------------------------Hart

Richards-------------Kolo-----------------Komps----------------Zabaleta

----------------------------------Dejong

-------------------Milner-----------------------Barry

-----------------------------------Yaya

--------------------------------------------Silva

------------------------------Tevez

I'd love us to absolutely go for it kind of like we did under Sven but I think we all know Mancini will treat this as a must not lose game and go for the draw with the outside chance of hitting them on the break... which would be fine if we had any pace upfront which we dont. :(

To be fair I was at the Sven-era 2-1 at the swamp and it was very much a counter attacking performace. Every chance we made was through Petrov on the left and Vass down the right.

We're slow starters, so we'll have to be a bit careful to start off with. I'd get a foothold in the game first and then step it up a bit.

I think we will find out for sure whether we have aspirations for the title, or just a top 4 finish.

They are certainly beatable and a win would keep the pressure on them. If we set up for the draw, I think Mancini is putting job preservation ahead of achieving to our maximum potential.

This one's gonna be a hell of a tactical battle.

If Baconface puts a team out to break down what he expects to be a defence minded City then I think Mancini will trump him by having a plan B to switch to immediately.

You heard it here first, 3-1 City.

The timing of this game for our team is craaaaaaap. Really bad timing with the international break. I'm sure it will have some effect on our squad.

you're all fucking daft if you think mancini doesn't line up with what he feels is the squad / tactics that gives us the best chance of winning every game.

Just because you think we can go out, "attack" a team and we'll win, doesn't mean it's reality, and it doesn't mean mancini agrees at all. I hear a lot of people pine for the attacking days of Hughes, I hated it, there was no plan, just attack and we would scrape games 4-3 or lose them 3-2. I think it's much better that we go out with a plan from the start, whatever the coach feels that plan should be. Fact is, teams that go to OT without a plan or just "to attack" or "to defend" will get slaughtered, I think Mancini brings a lot more to the table than that.

If I were Mancini I'd definitely go for it. We have nothing to lose and all to gain from going there and bring the game to them, worst that can happen is that we lose, but I don't think it will affect our chances of fourth place; But if we win...well, if we win then things get mighty interesting, don't they?

You're right Lola (or Kinky!). Someone said 'go for it like Sven'!! Fuck me we were backs to the wall and biting our nails and a lucky break off useless Benjani's shoulder won the day. But we were hammered.

And you're right he always sets us up to defend and then counter-attack when the other sides allow - obviously that's easier with poorer sides and sometimes we can appear to be going this magical 'all-out attack'! But basically the set up is always the same.

We will definitely do the same as at Arsenal, the difference being Silva will be playing, and that is one hell of a difference. If Scum play poorly and lose concentration we will beat them. If they are up fot it as usual we must keep at it for a 0-0, 1-0 or to avoid defeat.

But this 'all out/go for it' nonsense is so childish it belongs in the infant school yard, and would play right into the hands of a 3 or 4 nil loss.

Thank fuck Bobby is the boss.

If we did win, it would through the rags into turmoil.

I dont think we would be expected to win this, removing blue tinted specs says that we are unlikely to win, a draw would be good.

I really hope the Villa and Brum results arent the ones that hurt us at the end of the season.

Lets not forget Chelsea have to play scum twice, they arent going to beat them twice, infact its likely they will only get 1 point from them.

Is it too early to start putting the top 5's remain games up with predicted results for all of them?

There is nothing more than i would love than for us to go at it but using my head we shouldn't.

No Johnson, No Balotelli, No real Dzeko we are so low down on attacking talent to go for it. Keep it tight and see if we can nick it, a draw would be a great result, they will be a wounded animal and the worst thing for us to do would be to go for it and leave us open.7

Similar to our 4-2 win at Chelsea a year ago will do, kept it tight and scored on our 4 attacks.

I just did the BBC predictor for us, scum, arse, chel, yids and scum won the league,

scum 84
us 74
arse 73
spuds 73
chel 71

I tried to be realistic and did give us a couple of loss's. We HAVE to aim for more than 70 points

You must have us down for winning at least 8 of our last 12. I'm guessing you also put us down for a win at home to Spurs AND at least a point at both Chelsea and Liverpool.

Hope you're right, but that's very optimistic in my opinion.

My guess is we'll finish on 71/72 points, which would guarantee 4th and might just nick 3rd.

I've actually just done the predictor myself and Arsenal win it. Might throw a cheeky fiver at that.

Munes 2nd, Chelsea 3rd, us 4th, Spurs 5th, Liverpool 6th.

Interestingly we came out with 74 points on my predictor too, finishing behind Chelsea on goal difference.
