Is This Our Best Chance......

Postby Beefymcfc » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:04 pm

.....for many years?

Although we are all sat here thinking 'We Can't Do It, Can We?', if you look at it in a non-City way, if we beat them tomorrow we're in with a real shot at the title. We'll be 2 points behind knowing they've got just as tough games as us to come. Our 1st team is getting stronger whilst theirs is getting weaker, as has been shown by the absences tomorrow.

The bonuse is, even if we don't get the title, it gives Arsenal a good shot of stopping Taggart from going ahead of the Dippers in the title chase; that'd do me.

Is it time to man-up?

Its great to dream and we do have a great chance, but statistically, a win is very unlikely.

Which makes it very likely cause we're City!

I have been very positive towards Mancini and I am liking what he has done/is doing... if I were to find one thing I don't quite like it is that I think his view on matches like these and hopes we win instead of going for the win. Go for a maybe win, def. draw instead of going for the win straight out.

The plan of drawing vs top four and winning the rest is great if you manage to win the rest... (believe Utd did not win 1 match vs other top four teams when they beat l'pool for the title a few years back) but we have not so we gotta go for this one IMO. If we lead by 5 then draw would be win in my book.

Worst rag team, but the one with only one league defeat this season. I just get the sickening feeling that this is a league title this is destined to end up at the swamp

As in every year I have the hope, the belief......

Don't get me wrong, I have faith in Bobby ManC, if we do take them tomorrow I can see it being a REAL pyscological head head fuck for old soak face and a right boost for Bobby to really push on, just hope to God we really go for it rather than sit back defensively and then get spanked (definition of losing by more than one goal without us finding the onion bag).

Amazing. They've lost once all season. They are clearly the hardest team to beat in the league and a draw would be a fair result to us and not ridiculous.

Of course i want the win, but i don't believe they or we will do anything but play a conservative match not to lose. This has a cheeky but uninteresting 1-1 or 0-0 written all over it. Mancini would be happy with that. I can assure you.

Cheers

And liverpool screwed their title shot drawing too many games away from home two years back, only lost twice all season, seems eerily similar to me.

Our best chance to what?

I'm still thoroughly pissed at our lack of ambition in the home match. I've seen no evidence we'll change our approach since.

A lot closer, but I am not throwing in the towel just yet. I would say that any of the four currently at the top have a chance and probably Arsenal and City are in pole position knowing that Chelsea and United have to nick points from each other twice. We win this weekend and I'd say we are definitely in the mix.

This has me feeling odd, over the years of being a City fan ive always known that we are the "weaker" team. But we always had heart and battled for everything we could, this on its own gave us some great games against the odds. Having been very lucky to be there on one or two derby days that we won and bloody deserved too at that, I always believed that we could before hand. Now this new time in the clubs history and with this new team, as good as it can be it does leave me feeling that we have lost a little of our pure grit. I hope im wrong and we can stem the flow of their play early on and then build from there to push them back and have ago, if we can do this then we could not only win but surve them their shit holes on a plate.
Please City, lets be what we aim to be and do these twats.

not worse rag team ever, but worse since they won a title under taggart. Coincidentally, the best City team in that period. So why do I suspect we'll give them far too much respect?

Go for it and I could honestly see us winning by a couple of goals, but we won't be that daring.

This place has gone a bit bannanas.. why all the doom and gloom.. and why all the if we don't go balls out then we're fucled.. it's the Derby.. anything can happen, just because it is tighter between the teams doesn't change that. The rags will be well fired up for this game as they need to spring back into their 'pretending to be good' shape sharpish. They are under a massive amount of pressure and i'm sure they will respond... but only up to a point because we have them worried enough to have doubts. We are still lacking a bit of goal threat but it looks like their defence has managed to even that up. I rekon we can shut them up and get the better of them in midfield. And i think if we can scare them then we will eventually start to outplay them. Might be smart move throw Dzeko up front and see if he can get stuck into disrupting Smalling, and Vidic by knock on effect.
