At the moment kolarov's first movement is way too slow. I expect we will work on it in the summer, by getting some fat of his arse and putting some muscle into his thighs. One thing for sure, if he doesn't find a yard he's not going to make it. On the positive side, Zab was very similar when he came.Good display today, just lacked a bit of extra somert which unfortunately they found.

Shauny running at players was a highlight of the game for me. Felt like a flashback to yesteryear. Sadly just like all the bloody derby flashbacks, we fucking lost.
Tracking back is overrated.

Looked alright and is a better option than Jo but that's about it.

Disagree. He is the only player in our team who can run at players with pace and he does it consistently.
Sometimes he'll be tackled but you only need him to be successful with one dribble to create something. Defenders hate players with pace running at them.
He changed the game yesterday.

Great to see SWP looking a bit more like his old self.He may not start too many games ( Notts C apart) but he is always a good player to have on the bench.

If he gets back to his best though, he'll be a cert to start surely?

I'll put a link to this thread, when everyone on here is slagging him next time he has a bad game.

Go back two weeks mate, where I posted he was going to come good. I'd look it up but I'm not that vindictive. I want to but I won't.

I don't think he will ever be a cert to start , just as AJ wasn't, because he doesnt naturally fit into the way mancini wants to play.

Clearly tho SWP was massively lifted by me when I told him City fans love him at training the other week. Then lifted by the crowd response v WBA and now he comes on against the scum and looks like we know he can.

We often play the ball short and slow and look for an opening with slick passing but sometimes when it's not working you need a player who will just run at the opposition. Once SWP gets the ball in the box defenders are scared because he's so quick and nimble with the ball.

Didn't mean anyone in particular, probably shouldn't have said everyone. Just that a lot seem to need a scapegoat. Don't remember you featuring in slag off threads anyway.

I started a post saying he would come good. xavi was one I remember saying something like "no fucking way."

He will come good cos once he starts zigging when he should be zagging and vice versa it will all come good for him again. But that was the great thing about Sweep. You'd expect him to zig because that's where the space was, but he'd zag into the player and still find a way through.

Yep I did say that and I stand by it. He played 37 minutes and was decent, nothing more. He still ran into brick walls and his crossing wasn't great (the one for the goal was a head down, scuff job). He's not good enough to start for us, nor will he be imo.

Gloating after just over a half an hour football is a bit much tbh.

It was good to see him on form.. i am particularly pleased for Dazby ;)

in truth though while i very much hope Shaunie fills AJ's boots at every time of asking.. the real deal is whether he can do that. At this level the value of a player is in being consistenly good to a certain level.. so they can be relied upon. if not then it is like Adebayor.. now everyone has started pining for him, pretending somehow that he could be relied on when he clearly and categorically could not, however much of a decent player he was on paper. SWP needs to keep on top of it and just look to improve his form steadily and progressively, if he can do that he will be another vital part of the team.

In my view SWP has always had two things going for him; pace and a welcome willingness to work hard and track back. He also has two strikes against him. Poor ball retention with far too many headlong plunges forward into dead ends with his head down which result in ball turnover; a criminal offence for Mancini. The other is his inability over the years to deliver consistent quality ball in the final third. He's 29 and I'd be very surprised if he can be taught new tricks but I live in hope. In AJ's absence it was certainly right to keep him here.

Isnt his contract up in the summer? Or maybe next summer, either way its pretty likely he will be gone in the summer.

Needs to go to Bolton or QPR.

*Edit, I would however like him to stay.
