Summerbee on Sky

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Summerbee was bang on with his comments. However, talk like that from losing teams will always come across as bitter. We need to win these games before we stop being seen as "bitter"

Why are all the scum fans focusing on Summerbee's rant?

Thats because it cuts close to the bone and they know it.

They are scared now, they have all seen it with their own eyes, next season, with a left back and a fully fit squad, including a seasoned Dzeko and Balloteli, we will be the ones ripping up the league.

Next season a wonder goal from Rooney won't matter because we will be 3-0 anyway.

Using a stupid iPad, so it's difficult to requote large texts.

Just letting the football speak for itself is never enough. You should recognize this.

The media constanly tell us that city play boring , Italian style football trying to sneak a draw in away games. Spurs are more attractive ! What rot!

I watched the game in a pub full of red fans, I was the only blue there. When asked where the others were, I said either at the game or working. They all screamed with a sigh of relief with rooney's goal. They were really worried. Not one of them said it was a great ,game. Also, IMO , and surprisingly a very clean game. That's because they all believe united have a divine right to win even when they play shit and especially when the other teams get things like penalties denied. You know, it's ok for nani to handle the ball and then score after th play had stopped ( clattenberg) . It's ok for scholes to foul Micah and whistle being yellow carded, vehemently tell the ref to "Fuck off". If I can see that on screen ,the ref can too

It's not enough to let the football talk, that's why wenger never sees any dubious decision or foul play, any diving that van persie or fabragas make.

It's not bitter to recognize these things, these cheating aspects of the game that help united and arsenal win.

Yesterday the game was surprisingly fair. , I'm not bitter about the loss. United most certainly didn't dominate the game. Unfortunately, it came over that mike summerbee seemed shocked when seeing the stats instead of simply questioning their correctness. That's easy to say in hindsight though.

By the way, the media never worry about getting the facts right to sell newspapers, or rag shirts.

Also, I don't accept that mike came over as bitter. How often do you hear a red say "we were lucky to win that one" ?

Very rare, very rare indeed.

Buzzer was absolutely brilliant, and dared to spoil Skys scum/wooney wankfest. Love him. As for the stats, sky stats are always different to BBC stats and always biased toward the scum. If I could be arsed I could put them in a spreadsheet week on week and prove it. Sky at the end of the day have a vested interest (I don't think the picture of a scum season ticket actually being a sky viewing card is far from the truth in sky's eyes), whereas, whatever you think of the BBC, they do try to be factual. And as for whoever said he sounded bitter, they should try taking a bit of pride in City and show a bit of respect to a man who has been there and done it. Disgraceful comment only worthy of plastic scum fans. And I say plastic as the real ones know better.

He was dead right, they have been bigging united up for years.

Some of the stuff Martin Tyler came out with on sky during the game, it's just beyond a joke.

"united are once again saying to city, 'we are higher than you, we are over you'"

"city fans are getting that same old sinking feeling."

"the united fans are singing 'tevez, tevez, what's the score'"

He just has to be a rag revelling in the victory, no non biased commentator would come out with that sort of shite.

Robbie Savage did the same thing on MOTD the other week when Wolves beat Chelsea. The pundits were all going on about Chelsea's deficiencies and poor form. Savage had a bit of a rant saying something like "why don't we talk about what a great performance Wolves put in rather than saying it was Chelsea who threw the game away?" The others laughed as though he was a madman and just moved swiftly on. Really fucks me off.

Well tough tits Sky 4. It's a top 6 instead now and you're gonna have to fucking deal with it.

If that is your reaction then you need to ask why it is your reaction.

If Mike Summerbee just saying what is blatantly obvious but against the status quo of Sky, comes across as a bit bitter then i'm afraid you have been sucked into their sickening attitude as being 'normal'. There is nothing normal about it, it is sycophantic bias. It would be just as bad if it were directed towards City.. there is no bitterness in questioning that at all.

It is like watching BBC news and believing it to be unbiased.

Not sure if this is the thread to pick up on this but in talking of bias and them generally getting away with things, didn't Vidic elbow Dzeko in the face in the area? it looked fairly deliberate to me.

Stick to what you know mate.

Come on, he was saying we dominated posession when the stats show we didn't, it was rather even.
He said we had more shots on goal, which we didn't.

When they showed him the stats he said something like he doesn't believe in statistics...

I love him for sticking up to us, but some of the things he said were a bit too much.

But then again that's how Sky talk about United all the time so maybe it's good that he had a go at them.

I've just been reading the Beeb's and Sky's match reports and remembered what you had written last night. From your comments I was under the impression that Buzzer had got his facts wrong (although from watching the game I agreed) but when you actually read them, he was near enough right. Here's the stats off Sky:

Manchester United Team Statistics Manchester City

2 Goals 1

1 1st Half Goals 0

5 Shots on Target 3

5 Shots off Target 5

1 Blocked Shots 6

4 Corners 7

16 Fouls 13

2 Offsides 3

2 Yellow Cards 2

0 Red Cards 0

80.8 Passing Success 81.1

15 Tackles 21

80.0 Tackles Success 76.2

49.8 Possession 50.2

53.9 Territorial Advantage 46.1

If this was their official stats, what figures did Sky show as at the time as I was too busy fuming at what was being said?

Strangely, the Beeb has possession at 51-49 to the Rags and shots on goal as 13-11 in favour of us. Does this mean Sky manipulated the figures to ensure Buzzer looked a little silly? I'd be interested to know what figures were put up.

Whatever the situation, Buzzer was very correct in his analysis and didn't need stats to back up his arguement. That's the difference between a player and a pundit, you just do not need stats to read the game.

If sky have actually manipulated the stats to purposely show up Sumerbee thats a new low.I would not be one bit surprised by it.

Espn give possesion as 50-50 and shots and corners both in citys favour.

Just to add to this Opta stats say 542 passes for City to 534 for rags. 423 successful City to 415 rags.

So yes very close just edged by City.

Sky stats on the program were doctored.

That called lying in normal language.

Sky statistics = damn lies.

Buzzer was great, and Jamie Redknapp is a disgusting piece of shit. Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy working overtime.

The way his fingers were writhing with hatred as Summerbee spoke, I thought he was gonna break one.

For me, this just goes to show how they'll stoop to such underhand tactics to keep the Rag Train going. For those who say that Sky do not have an agenda, if you think this isn't a blatant attempt at Rag bias then I don't know what is

Probably as much anti-City as bias for them. I think that the majority of the media and the knowledgable pundits will say anything that makes it look like we are crap after the investment to date.

Beefy's point about stats, seems to sum up the point I was making earlier. "lies , damn lies and statistics". A disgraceful use of a set of numbers to make buzzer look out of place.
