Chelsea and Villa are the big losers this year in term of points lost - 13 and - 16 respectively. Birmingham and Fulham fair slightly better.
Bolton and Sunderland are the big winners gaining 10 points on last season's tally with Bolton claiming an incredible 11 places in the league.
At the top of the table Chelsea's loss is United's, Arsenal's City's and Spurs' gain. What is interesting to note is that the top three teams this season have a very consistent record to last year with United and City on level points and Arsenal 1 point better off.
Spurs are the winners here as they are 4 points better off than last season after 26 games played. After a terrible start Liverpool are only 6 points off last season now after 27 games played (although as a trend over 3 seasons they are seeing steady decline).
So does this mean that United will be heading for 85 points and Arsenal 75 with Spurs on 74, Chelsea on 72 and City on 67? Most probably not but fun to guess.
It's interesting to note that the perception has been that the top 5 teams are easier to beat this season than last. Whilst reflecting on points totals only that statement can only be true if applied to Chelsea and the others are just as consistent as last season.
