Sounness summed it up perfectly - Jordan should have been given 5 mins alone with Gattuso to sort the problem out.

Would he be allowed to take his walking stick in to the room or not? That's the deciding question.

If you ever saw Jordan play, you'd realise the folly of the walking stick comment. He'd still absolutely chew Gattuso up and spit him out, even after spotting him 30 years advantage.

He'd have to remember where he left his teeth before 'chewing' him up.

Joe Jordan was the mould for Duncan Feruson, only 10 x the mailce, he played on after having teeth kicked out, Seriously hard player who today would be in prison for his use of the elbow smash used every week.

Smashing elbows in to people doesn't make you hard. Ask Iain Hume if he thinks Chris Morgan is hard. Sounds like this guy is from the same school as Kevin Muscat if you ask me.

That incident was shocking but Chris Morgan is a tough nut generally.

Agree with you that a stray elbow doesn't make a player "hard" but it doesn't necessarily mean he isn't.

There's a reason Joe Jordan has no front teeth and that's because , like most Leeds players of that 'Team' in the sixties and seventies they were sly, cheating b'stards and there was always a payback time against them. It's always easy to Elbow the unsuspecting, or to go over the top as that sly little weasel Giles used to do. Even Hunter was just a sly git, who when on his own tended to behave. So no , 30 years older I think Jordon would have lost out to gatusso, who is physically much stronger i suspect. As you get older you lose power in your muscles and it would have been silly to see Jordan getting hurt. Bill Bremner, was a hard tackler and hard but he was openly hard, not like Jordan, Hunter or Giles.

As for Gattuso, he should be banned for about six games.

The violence that both these people personify has no place in football at all.

'Fucking Italian bastard!': this is what Joe Jordan, ex Leeds Utd player, told to Rino from San Siro bench yesterday night.
Agree with UEFA if Gattuso would be punished for a long time, but he will always be an idol for me, as an Italian much more than as an AC Milan fan ... fuck off Spuds forever!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

Thats bollocks Mase, Jordan played for Rags Leeds and AC Milan for me that tells you Top player.
Muscat is a thug, Jordan was just a hard player who could play, latterly very clever and had a great touch and was awsome in the air great number 9 if you will.
a) Muscat Willl aways be a shit player
b) Would not have lasted a week in the era Jordan played in
c) As I stated not, what you would get away with today but was the norm look at Footage of Best scoring against Chelsea Choppers tackle would be 10 yrs ban now. No clever but as it was back in the day. Flammini tackle poor but accepted as normal once upon a time. City had Mike Sumerbee and a few others a winger known as one of footballs hardest players that is my point, also mud bath pitches encouraged the tackle. Forwards like Jordan, Paul Mariner took a lot but gave a lot mate. Crowds loved it Dennis Tueart once took a shooing against Hatlrpool had enough jumped 12 inches and head butted the player "STANDING OVATION AS HE LEFT THE PITCH ANOTHER WINGER"

Again though mate, making a hard tackle, not backing out of tackles, throwing elbows, etc doesn't make you hard. When I was growing up I was sick to death of hearing people brown nosing the likes of Roy Keane and tagging him with the 'hard man' image just because he put a tackle in.

I had an hour talking with Souness at Coms last season, and he was of the opinion the players today see you coming and can stitch you up like a kipper, no contact Red card when he played it was a pride thing,a 50/50 with you pulling out was you finished at the club. Stupid realy, Hardest player he played with Dalglish, dirty bastard who would nail fullbacks and break toes of defenders and laugh about it he was serious, he took dogs abuse from them so fuck em was his slant on it.

Sorry, in my neck of the woods anyone who tries to headbutt is classed as a shit bag. A snidey way of getting a dig in, one that can't really be excused.

Aren't you from Ashton? I've never heard that.

lol Well if you was smart you wouldnt square up to someone, if you square up to someone then your asking to get a lovely forehead on your nose m8

It was an inciteful faux headbutt. He never meant to connect. Just to incite Jordan. 'Not doing his homework' is right. Joe Jordan would bash Gatusso's face through the back of his skull if he wanted.
