I suppose what he really likes is dropping off and being fed through by Silva with one twos. I still think he could be made to appreciate Dzeko holding up the ball and bringing him in and feeding off knock downs. Van der Vaart is thriving on the service from Crouch and Dzeko's a much better player than Crouch.

GIVE HIM TIME. PLEASE.

Is he really? You said yourself you hadn't seen Dzeko play much. When Spurs beat us 1-0 last season, Crouch played one of the best games I've seen a centre forward play here, he held the ball up beautifully released it at the right times and cause havoc for us.
He has scored goals in the Premier League and at international level consistently for years now. So to say Dzeko is better than him just yet is silly.
You mean Dzeko has the 'potential' to be a better player than Crouch.

Also Tevez is nothing like Van Der Vart as a player.

Ha ha ha, only just noticed that. And the reason I haven't donated to the site yet is because I don't hold a Debit or Credit Card, I usually do it all by internet banking but was unable to fathom out how it worked with PayPal. Once in the new house (moving Friday), and everything up and running, I'll make my own little contribution to the site via that Donate button at the bottom of the site - honest.

If anyone else wants to contribute on my behalf, you are more than welcome ;-)

No I mean he's already a better player than Crouch. Dzeko scored goals at an incredible rate in the German League; Crouch has scored some goals in the Champion's League but has hardly been prolific in the Premiership especially this season. People criticise Dzeko for lacking mobility but he's far more mobile than Crouch. In my view he's also much more technically gifted than Crouch. He's got surprisingly nimble feet for a big man. No two players are identical but Van der Vaart feeds off knock downs and lay offs from Crouch and I don't see why Tevez couldn't do the same.

My main point though is that we snaffled a player who was in hot demand all over Europe. To write him off so quickly as some seem to be doing is in my view silly.

German League? exactly. You can't compare foreign leagues to the Premier League. Afonso Alves, Georgious Samaras, Bianci to name a few.

Crouch has performed consistently in the Premier League.
He scores big goals at big times. He nets a late winer at the San Siro, yeah he's shit.
Crouch has one of the best touches I've seen for a big man. Dzeko's first touch isn't great. Dzeko is more mobile? Based on what?

You can not seriously compare Tevez to VDV. They are completely different. Tevez is a prolific striker, VDV is a playmaker. Nothing like each other.

I'll tell you what mate if Crouch was on offer you wouldn't get European teams fighting over him for 30 million euros. Bayern Munich were in the Champions League Final last year so I don't think it's sensible to underestimate the standard of play in the German league. I repeat why is it so difficult to imagine Tevez feeding off knock downs and flick ons? He's not been used to that kind of service so far at City but that can change.

Anyway if you want to write off Dzeko at this stage it's your right. This forum's all about opinions!

Your point being? He's proven at Premier League level. Dzeko isn't. So to say Dzeko is far better is silly. How often did you watch Dzeko play before he came to us? Exactly.

Because Tevez is not that type of player. Why change a winning formula. He's been superb upfront. He is NOT a playmaker.

How many teams bid for Dzeko? Not were interested, according to a paper, actually bid?

Yes he is, and no I don't mean he has the potential to be better than Crouch; Dzeko is twice the footballer Crouch is, while Crouch is probably better in the air but as an all round player Dzeko is better; he just need to get used to the league and the new teammates while we get used to him being in the team and find a way to use him at his best together with Tevez/Mario/Tevez&Mario.
