Wembley possibilities

Postby BobbyJ1956 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:27 am

If (when) City get to the Cup Final, most of the possible match-ups have got something special about them.
City v Birmingham: the Trautmann final all over again (it was my second City match), Bert would be there as honoured guest.
West Ham: Carlos v. his old team.
Stoke, Tony Pulis back to face City at Wembley after Dickov's magic moment.
Bolton, there's Petrov, hopefully not coming back to bite us.
Arsenal for me would be the least enticing of the games.
Then there's the other lot, which would either be the best or the worst game of my life.

Oddly, it is Arsenal that I would have the most confidence we could beat going into the game

Stoke, Birmingham, West Ham, Bolton....we SHOULD be capable of beating them...but I'd have the heeby jeebies about it. Every one of them (well...maybe with the exception of the Hammers) have it in them to turn us over.

The scum....well, I'm just hoping that Arsenal do us a favour and take them out of the equation. We can beat them, I'm positive of that but the thought of losing to them when we would be so close to something special, well, it makes my stomach turn

If we can get past Reading I'll be really pleased with the cup effort. Knocking on the door at semi finals should be something we can achieve regularly in our new era. Eventually we'll crack it.

We've had a great draw thus far, long may it continue.

Yes, it's been at the back of my mind for some time that we are on a collision course with the rags for the final, and that is something which will for me take the enjoyment out of the day. Not because I have a negative feeling about any potential result, but because of all the crap and bullshit in the days and weeks leading up to this game.
Yes, winning will be the sweetest thing ever in my 50 years as a City supporter, but the alternative would be too dire to think.

Still, there's a lot that can happen, and an Arsenal win will do just fine.

We've fucked up so many times in the past I'd prefer not to think about it.

I would rather face the scum - it would be a perfect outcome for us and the launch of the new CITY - just refuse to consider us losing (yes I know head in sand - but I see it as fate)

If City take on the filth in the final, my Mum has even said she'd watch that one.

I think it would be a dream/nightmare to launch the new era on the trodden bodies of the them.

With old Rasher Chops himself handing over the cup.

I fully agree Slim - I think they are already in decline and cannot believe how they have been getting away with it (probably just my hatred bias) - I would love us to do them in the final

We've reached the QUARTER final.

Did we really have to start speculating about the final already?

It would be very typical of City to get the rags in an FA CUP final and end 35 years of hurt agasint them. This would be the greatest day in my life bar none and them arm chair plastic fookers would never hear the last of it from me. I see this as fate!

Lets actually get there first before we started looking at opponents. Lets concentrate on Reading and then if we apply ourselves properly lets see what the draw brings us.

The FA CUP FINAL...City v the rags at Wembley....There for the World to see. There can be no more perfect setting for the balance of power to switch over back to the Blues....In the full glare of Global publicity, with all its pomp, ceremony and glorious hype.

It is an opportunity that is far too good to miss...despite the rags sitting comfortably at the top of the league, the infrastructure beneath their feet is rotting away rapidly. What an unbelievably perfect opportunity to overtake them on such an auspicious occasion.

NOTE: If we were to meet in a Wembley final, it would be a win win scenario for us, whatever the score. It would be our 1st final for 30 years and show the World that we were now up there among the very best. Should we lose, that fact cannot be removed. Should we win and win well, the balance will have been switched, we will have proved that we have arrived and they rags will be forced to swallow their arrogance....It will then be our turn to gloat....BRING IT ON....CAN'T WAIT.

That's all well and good but there will be a full premiership programe a couple of hours before the final. I can't see many of our lads lasting the pace of 2 games tbh. Personally I don't ever want to see the rags getting the glory of getting to a final ... wether it's against us or not.

If we beat the rags in the final the world would explode.

If we lost to the rags in the final the world would explode.

Let's hope Arsenal give them a good hiding eh?

That 2nd scenario is just not true. The football World would simply shrug and consider that nothing has changed. We would simply continue to get in the neck for a short period while the rags gloated and then we would all look for other headlines to read.

Beating the rags at Wembley would cause the World to explode. Questions would be asked about whether we had finally reached the top, whether we had finall overtaken the rags and whether the rags had started their declline. No such questions would be raised if we lost...WIN WIN situation for us...Not a lot to lose...but major gains to be won.

My thoughts exactly, I really couldn't bear it if we got there and they beat us.

Two games to go yet anyway.
