Brilliant player but needs to score more to be regarded as a truly world class player imo. Many occasions this season his finishing has let him down and he gets into a lot of goalscoring positions. Notably against Man United.

I don't like him, i have my issues with him, but he is pure class. A thew people have his vision of the game and his coordonation. If he will stay injuries free he can be one of our all time great ones.

Neah mate, i have some issues with him since he was at Celta Vigo, on loan a long way back.
But again, the lad made me wake the neighbourhood last night with a wonderfull "Yeeeee" when he scored.

I'm stunned that ANYone who watches city with regularity can question the fact that silva is our best player. It's patently obvious that we are nowhere near as good without him. The same cannot be said of any other player. True, NDJ and Kompany are important, but we can play well without them. As far Tevez goes, I have this sneaking suspicion we'll be a better overall team when he leaves. Great player to be sure, but not a great team player.

He's the creative hub of the team.

I'm a huge Nigel De Jong fan, and latterly Fab Vinnie, and would always rank Tevez as the 'Ringo' of the Fab Four.
He's an essential part of the group, but right now I'd rank him Number Four.
But Silva quickly displaced Nige early this season as 'The Man'

The thing about Tevez, which I thought in the Fulham game is that when he's not the centre of attention, he's less driven.
And possibly more than any other game because he didn't have Silva to give him that attention, it was one of his poorest games for us.

btw, I always laugh when I hear pundits say Silva is becoming more and more an influence for us.
He's been that way for a good four months now
(its because the pundits took so long to realise it!)

it is my regret that I never saw Peter (the Great) Doherty, considered to be better than Bell, at a time when Bell was in his pomp....By fans who saw them both play...He must have been some player.
That does not diminish the player that Bell was. He could defend, attack, tackle, head, had consumate ball skills, he also subjugated himself to the team's cause and he was a regular scorer.
Should Silva remain at City for any length of time, I have no doubt that he will eventually become recognised as the greatest player of this generation that wore blue.

...and Dub mate...stats don't tell everything about a player. They don't record how a little dip of a shoulder can send a defender the wrong way, or how a reverse pass can wrong foot a whole line of defenders. They don't record how a run without the ball can create space for others to go ahead and create havoc. Silva's impact on the field is far more than stats could ever record mate. Silva is one to sit back and enjoy...not record.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

Bloody hell, I was agreeing with your whole post until that, I know he likes to shoot when there is sometimes a better option, but FFS if he didnt shoot we would be fooked. Tevez is every bit a team player as Silva

I love Silva, I think he's an excellent player... but by some of the comments on here you would think he was the in the top three in the world in his position.

I'm also still hearing that Tevez isn't a team player.

The world has gone fucking mad.

A couple more goals and Tevez will be the top striker in the world's top league. He's favourite to do this BTW.

Also, for those who say we aren't the same team without Silva in it - I agree. But up until very recently it was a case of "if Tevez doesn't play City don't win".

Some people forget so quickly. I'm a bit amazed by all of this TBH. I would have thought the world and his brother would have known that Tevez is our front runner for both City POTY and Premier League POTY. I believe Kompany will come second...

Ok, POLL coming!!

for a midfield playmaker i actually do think he is getting very close to being in that top 3. there are not many players around that can do what he does with such ease.

I tink the comment was born from the fact that tevez, in every game, often chooses to shoot rather than feed a player who has made a dash into the box in space - there isn't much to criticise tevez about, but he does tend to want to do it all on his own at times

I remember one or two people saying similar stuff about Francis Lee & then Dennis Tueart when he left; greedy, better off without him etc.

By all acounts he is not far off. And he was already there when we signed him.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

When you read stuff like "Tevez is not a great team player" you have to despair.

He was bought because he is the ultimate team player. The argentina fans consider him their greatest team player.

The fact he chooses to shoot in situations where MAYBE someone else could shoot does not bother me for the most part. Of course there are times when I''ll shout that he should have passed it, but more times than not, I want to see him shoot, because his strike rate is phenomenal since he started playing for us. Its up there with the very best.

Without him we would suffer to the point where I don't think we'd make top four without signing another already established world great.

Personally I have absolutely no complaints when striker is eager to have a shot at goal. Even if it sometimes ends up in the stands. I mean, strikers are supposed to be bit greedy. Besides, most of our players are trying to run the fucking ball to net so no harm done if someone tries to have a shot every now and then.

Tevez is sometimes too greedy but if anyone was to look at videos of games during the season, he's actually threaded quite a few great passes which Silva would be proud of. If you score every 1.5 games, it's hardly surprising that you'll probably shoot if you get the chance.
