Crewe boss Dario Gradi says he has missed out on signing a Manchester City defender on loan after Kolo Toure was suspended for failing a drugs test.
"(City coach) David Platt was very good and had made the arrangements for us to borrow one of his young players," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke.
"That was almost done and dusted, but the problem they've got with Toure has put paid to that for the time being.
"It's not dead but it's not going to happen this weekend."
Crewe have conceded 17 goals in their last six matches and Gradi has been continuously searching for defensive reinforcements

Ivan Carminati as usual the day before a game ran proceedings and it was handball fun followed by 2 touch football with only headed goals allowed. The most notable effort was top header from Tevez but brilliantly saved by Micah clawing it out of the top corner.Dzeko though did beat him with a scrubby close range effort afew minutes later.Boateng was performing equally as well in the other net. They also played a game with tiny nets and Ivan had them rushing from pitch to pitch to change the game. Just like kids having a great time.
If the watching photographers didn't get some fun pictures this morning they want shooting (they do anyway I know) and especially of Mario who was having a great time. When this ended the kepeers were called for and I expected a game of some sort but it wasnt to be.Joe and Stu came over but went in after Joe recieved some treatment from the doc.Something wrong with his face it seemed but I was later told he got something in his eye after a diving save. Most of the players either went in or just hung a round for some gentle shooting or messing around whilst 8 had a little game in the very small nets.
Of these 8 were a few who havent played a lot of late,Jo,Tevez,Vinnie,Dzeko and Nigel and the others were Chantler,Boyata,Wabara.Of the rest who had stayed out Boateng was having some kind of contest with Patrick. All about knocking the ball to each other ,2 touches allowed and the first to mess up loses. When Boateng won he was really givin it large and taunting Pat and getting full congratulations from Lescott. Very funny it looked as they walked off with Boateng still taunting.
Only an hour before they were all back inside.

When I last saw him play, (admittedly a couple seasons ago in FAYC semi final) he was playing centre-half with Incredible.

Would I be right in saying that particular game was very "stop-start"?

Did SuperMario look to be suffering from any reaction to Wednesday night, when he seemed to fall and twist his knee, shortly before half time, or was he moving OK ??

He semed perfectly fine to me. I think Mancini had it right the other day when he said he tends to feel his knee when he gets something wrong but shows no symptoms when he gets it right.

Yeah I posted yesterday that it doesnt look good.Although only a soft tissue injury on his knee ,it's the same knee as his last injury and likely will cost him the rest of the season. His next scan will tell for sure but that's the current word.
