Vieira

Postby Niall Quinns Discopants » Sat Mar 05, 2011 7:44 pm

Let's face it, he has recently showed why he was worth spot in the squad.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Agree, i thought he was good today.

Agree to a point but I did think the second half was perhaps a 45min bridge too far today for him and with Baz and Yaya shot we struggled in midfield

Anytime with Yaya in midfield looks a struggle unfortunately...

Fully agree. When the ball was with him I was full of confidence that he will do somthing sensible with it. On the other hand when it was with Barry and even Yaya, I just waited to see how they will give it away.

yeah he's just what we need ,35 year old midfielder who slows the team to a stand still and excels with the pass back to a defender ,popped up with a few goals recently and he's our savior , jesus wept .

He's done decent the last couple of games.
But he'll hardly play against Chelsea.
Especially with Nige back

He has been brilliant to have around with all the games we've had (+injuries) but he'll be back off to the bench for the Chelsea game. That's all good though, we need to squad players like him around.

Don't agree sorry mate. Average today but below average for many of the games before.

If people thinks he looks quicker it's only because he's next to Barry who's slowing at a spectacular rate.

Vieira wouldn't get near any other midfield of the other top 5/ 6 teams.

Disagree completely.

I could easily see Vierira playing in the middle for United for the odd game.

He'd look like a bit of peado at Arsenal though.

He's had several decent games in a row for us now, which makes up for losing us the match previously. Keep it up Paddy.

Before the game today I posted that I was a bit worried about the lack of pace in the middle today and hoped that Wigan wouldnt be good enough to make the most of it. They just about wern't good enough but they did work on it at times.

In a way Patrick had a good game today and he had a very good game against Villa. But I think in a way he contributes to the slow way we play which isnt good.He is part of that problem as I see it. But yes he has and is showing what value he is.A better team than Wigan would probably have scored today and who knows what the end result would have been but the defence just about did enough to hold them at bay.I just hope Mancini doesnt pick him in a key game except as sub to come on to hold onto something near the end.

Barry can be as well but ,although a slow mover, he does seem to pass the ball quicker and get around for a return pass a little quicker. We just lack real energy from the middle and it worries me when I see Tevez come deep and look for movement and options and there is nothing happening. Then you can see him turning to Mancini with his hands out looking for something from him!

Against Fullham he shored the midfield up and we gained control of the middle of the park in a game we struggled with in attack. Against Villa he was one of our best players and the years seem to fall off him - today, he tired in the 2nd half but still looked fresher than Barry and Yaya, who both did wonders for handing possession back to Wigan!

Have to agree with Doug though, the pace and movement in midfield is worrying.

Of course its slow in midfield - Barry is a fucking tortoise and Vieira is on his last legs and Yaya is....well I dont know what he is...goes from "wow....what a run" to "shit...lost it again" - unless we get someone in there that has more go about them we will always have a slow midfield.

Barry - seriously, he can fuck off in the Summer.. I'm sick of shouting at my TV screen.

Vieira was very good indeed, then ran out of steam &, in an ideal world, needed replacing but as there were others worse, he stayed on. I agree it does show why he was brought in though. Why it couldn't have been someone younger & better I don't know but he's certainly playing his part.

We ended up though, with a team of slow, mainly defensive, fairly unfit players. The kind of team that Frank Clarke would build & the fact we haven't got better, faster options is entirely Bob's fault.
