Good news. I don't want to give them any sort of extra boost for the match. And 7-8k fans would have been such boost I'm sure

Given that we have now confirmed free coach travel for all of our supporters, and appreciating that demand could potentially go beyond this allocation, we immediately approached Manchester City to investigate all possibilities. Unfortunately, after discussions took place, this was not possible; City went on sale immediately after their game with Aston Villa, and a considerable number of seats in adjacent areas had been sold to City season ticket holders and their supporters. Bearing in mind the level of projected demand from their own supporters, City are not opening the top tier on the sides of the ground, but after discussions with their safety officer it is not viable to move supporters into those areas.

I'd imagine it the club couldn't handle it if they now decided to open the 3rd tier anyway. Reading would have to be given more tickets which would lead to a new problem - read the last sentence above.
Also, I would imagine many 3rd tier ST holders would be pissed to have been relocated only to find out later they would have been able to sit in their own seats etc.

Think the safety problem is more to do with opposing fans mixing whilst going up the spirals so the club should have no probs opening level 3 to City fans. They could of course open 1 spiral solely for the use of away fans to go up to level 3 but with it being late in the day I suspect the club would prefer to keep schtum on this and try to put the top tiers on sale as late as viably possible

It's a bit unfair on people moved from the 3rd tier, but the club seems to have marketed it very smartly. May even sell out, which is more than we have in previous FA QFs or Rnd 5s. The attendance has always been disappointing.

Our best chance in years should be sold out without a doubt. Why on earth would you not come?
I notice Reading had another good result last night.
Hopefully they will be concentrating on promotion and will send a weakened team!
