Which City Former Player...

Postby Blue Since 76 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 9:26 pm

would you like to see in our side now?

I was sat at the match last week thinking about how well Kinky would fit into the current line up, as back up to Silva or even with Silva as a pair of free spirits behind a striker. Without the need to carry an entire team, he could have looked (even more) brilliant.

I also think Goater would do a decent job. He's no Tevez or Balotelli, but with our current attacking potential, I could see him being easily in double figures for goals this season.

So who do you think would have graced our team and why? I'm sure there will be lots of suggestion for Bell etc, but it's more interesting to think of players who weren't top drawer, but put into the current team/squad would look better and possibly improve it.

As a final one, heard Andy Morrison on the radio tonight. Alongside Vince to provide the pace/ball control, Andy could have been formidable - we'd certainly look better at defending set pieces.

There was a lad called Wright-Phillips who was very handy on the right wing who we could do with now, but I think he disappeared after we sold him to Chelski?

Bradley?

The SWP who returned wasn't as good as the one who left. Or perhaps we'd improved and he just didn't look as good. Either way, he will play an important part in the rest of the season, starting with something in the next 3 games, if he's over his injury

Mark Kennedy was some player for a while back there. We could do with the width whilst AJ is out. Think he liked a drop of the black stuff too much though.

hahaha couldnt help but laugh at the thought , given all the world class players we are looking at ,of Goater and Morrison coming in to strengthen the team.Just hilarious.

Niall Quinn in his pomp, had a decent touch for a big fella, half decent keeper (lol!), nice bloke and had a quality song or I'd still take Anelka now....still would have loved to have had Benarbia in his prime, sadly the legs were going by the time we reached the Premiership.

andy morrison is a good call. i'd also like to see jamie pollock off the bench when we've gotta defend that one goal lead. he'd make mincemeat out of charlie adam.

Goater's record in the premier league was better than 1 in 3, if memory serves me right. He never 'made' a goal, so not sure he'd look out of place. How many times this season have we needed someone in the box to put a chance away? He'd have shinned everyone of those straight into the net.

Superman. The good year. He would be magnificent.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Started like a house on fire that season, then fell away badly and it took the loan signing of Gaudinio to spark an end of season revival - did he get done for something to do with cars?

It was a hell of a day for sure. Then we regressed to the usual dross.

Some ridiculous names in this thread to be honest. In nearly all cases rose-tinted sentiment throws common sense right out of the window.

I would've thought 2 top England internationals would strengthen this side:

Colin Bell and Dave Watson.
