Which City Former Player...

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

If the stipulation was to add only 1 past player, I would choose a defender, a midfielder and a striker....COLIN BELL.
I would then go down to Betfred and put my wages on winning the League...I love taking money off rags.

Watson with Kompany would have city fans drooling. Watson could head a ball further than many can kick it.
A twin wing strike force of Johnson and Mike Summerbee would take some stopping too.

I loved the likes of the Goat and Rosler but these guys were a different league.

Kind of reminds me of the Mock of the Week joke when we first got taken over. The young lad(looks like he is about 14yo) said if City went and signed 10 of the absolute best in the world, we could carry anyone, we could have Dame Judi Dench as a fox in the box.

Box to box midfielder is often quoted as a big miss for us. Step forward COLIN BELL. And 68 is right, you'd have to get your money on us to win the title.
Other than that, Franny Lee, Summerbee or Young would all grace this team. In fact they were better than this team.
Slightly later, Dennis Tueart and Watson and to solve the left back spot problem how about Willie Donachie?
Later still, Quinn, Geo and Lake.
And if you wanted one player who would drum the spirit of City into these pampered mercenaries, it could only be Mick Doyle!
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

I suspect the best players would come from the sixties team, but, like most these days, I've generally only seen dross, with the occasional talent makinga brief appearance.

Another one, sure to split opinion, Elano. Could be hopeless on a regular basis, but as back up to Silva and carried by the likes of de jong and barry, his passing could have made a difference. I'd only have him if Kinky was busy, though.

Some hilarious suggestions on here, and I think a lot of Blues have some very rose tinted glasses on some of the former players we have worshipped in what has been an extremely lean 30 odd years, and thats being kind.

Given this is by far the best City team Ive ever watched, and Ive been going every week since 19bloody77, the one player to add is glaringly obvious and has already been put forward by a couple of others. Colin Bell.

Leaving aside the great team that won everything, I'd be looking at the "class acts" that have graced various positions

our squad's spine could be strengthened by Coton, Curle and Lake.

Kinky, Walsh, Bernabia and Berkovic wouldn't make bad back up

and Barnes and White out wide?
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

seeing as i am too young to have watched the likes of bell and even quinn and kinkladze properly
the only player we have had that i could really see pushing our first 11 at the moment is van buyten even though he was only here for about 4 games he was class him and kompany at centre back would be the best pairing in the league imo

Power was always a favourite of mine as a tyke(not good enough, but favourite still).

Aside from him, Lake, Kinky or Barnes are all very good shouts.

Bell is a bit too obvious really but if we try another position, I recon Tueart would suit this team perfectly; goalsoring wide player who can play both sides as would Peter Barnes. Both would really excell on the counter attack. Another who'd be absolutely perfect for that job is Craig Bellamy.
