After that, you need to wonder why you support a certain club and what connection you have to them. I have a League Two side that I follow, and they have made City's travails of the last 30 years look glorious in the extreme. This is why I balk when I see fans of an established Premier League club, with a fine history, dribble on about how wonderful fucking Barcelona are.

As a City fan, you already support one of the biggest clubs in the world; why the fuck do you need Barcelona?

Barca's style may be one to aspire to, but my "glory hunting" begins and ends with City, as it did in 1998 when we were relegated to the third tier.

Having said that - and perhaps more to the point - blokes on non-match days in football shirts look like idiots. Women actually don't tend to look too bad.

In my opinion, you are a bit shallow and chav-esque if you wander around wearing a City shirt when you are nowhere near Eastlands.

Replica shirts are generally for kids.

Guv, there is no better way to draw out other city fans, and people who don't like city, then by wearing a city shirt.

With you there D

agree with Guv about aspiring to Barca's style, It will be City that teams are aspiring to be in the not too distant future!
disagree about the shirt wearing. I am certainly proud to wear the colours and I can't always be at eastlands - I live down south and work shifts of 4 days 4 off 4 nights 4 off.
Have supported City 43 years - used to go to every match home and away but is just not possible now.
Best I have being amongst rags, gooners and yids is to wear my colours - If that makes me a plastic chav then so be it.
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...

Unfortunately the bin-dippers but that is another story

You weren't interested in following the bin dippers like your dad? I'm curious because my whole family have always been city fans and i've never known anything else. It would be interesting to hear a story from someone who apparently had a choice in the matter.

I think there can be pages of psycological analysis about why you pick a team for me I think it was the mixture of three things:

1. Corrigan, Summerbee,Lee and Bell
2. Everyone else supporting red teams (Rags, Liverpool and Arsenal) and I wanted to be different
3. The colour blue

Those of you who can remember our team at that time (or is it blue-tinted glasses) will remember how Bell and Summerbee ran with the ball, how Lee fought and fought and Joe (my hero) was just a massive solid presence and in those slower days the majesty of them running a game was reason enough.

If only i'd known what i'd let myself in for
It may be my last year as a season ticket holder as it just doesn't seem the same with so few English and local players (but I said that last year)

Hope this doesn't get deleted (like it did on the 606 forum), as it's relevant to City...

I am a final year student at Leeds Metropolitan University currently in the process of completing my dissertation/MIS (Major Independent Study). I have chosen to investigate the issue of foreign/non-UK national ownership in the Premier League. I have structured a questionnaire and am looking for the views of fans of all 20 clubs on this subject. Your opinions on foreign ownership will be vital to the conclusions I hope to make. As mentioned in the questionnaire introduction, I can send you a copy of my results section once I have completed the full report if you are interested.

It would be a massive help if you have a spare 10-15 minutes to fill it out. If you click on the link below it takes you directly to the questionnaire. Once you are finished just click 'submit' at the bottom.

Thanks in advance!

How does questionnaire aimed towards football SUPPORTERS help you to understand foreign ownership. Also, what's the difference between Foreign and non-UK?

p.s. I answered.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think that supporters' views are just one part of the thesis. If his subject is sociology, I guess it's a major part, but if it's business, I'd hazard a guess it's just a tiny wee bit.

I completed it, but there was nowhere to choose to receive a copy of the results from what I saw.

Bit lightweight if that's the foundation of his thesis don't you think? I wouldn't say my "Modelling of Thermal Resistance in Sewage Systems" was exactly groundbreaking but I did work on it for 6 months non-stop and based it on little bit more than a questionnaire.
