Kolarov is not a defender

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Kolarov is not a defender

Postby MaineRoadMemories » Thu Mar 10, 2011 9:03 pm

He hasn't got a defensive bone in his body. No amount of training and coaching will sort that out. Time to retrain him as a midfielder and use him there.

Most fullbacks are just like that nowadays.

People cream themselves over Dani Alves or Philippe Lahm but they are exactly the same.

He is not a very good footballer. Can't figure it any other way. Bad buy.

Can't tackle.
Can't track players.
Has no clue how to shut down passing lanes.
Tries ridiculous passes that never come off, yet tries them again and again.
Can't beat a man.
Has no change of pace and all of it mediocre.
Trots off when dispossessed like he doesn't give a fuck.
Cuts inside with the same predictable inside step maneuver.
Shoots when he should be focusing on being provider.
Takes him 100 shots to get one on target.

Thank fuck he did fuck all wrong tonight, who knows how bad it could have been.

But he didn't fly out for an easy cross in slow motion. He didn't pass it backwards everytime. He didn't lose out to pace in a running race numerous times. He didn't decide at half time he didn't want to come out and try. He didn't decide at 80 minutes he was bigger than our beloved club.

Wrong scapegoat tonight lads.

In the same way a sledgehammer to the knee is worse than a kick to the balls, still doesn't make a kick to the balls desirable.

It's a strange one. He ran his balls off tonight & produced some of our better attacking moments apart from his PATHETIC set pieces, BUT he's not good enough to be a top midfielder & he's nowhere near quick enough to be a top fullback. In the days of muddy pitches, Brian Clough would have him getting the player of the year award, but nowardays with the ball zipping around, he can't catch up with it; squad player.

Kolarov is absolutely awful...

Personally i think City have got this phobia of making there minds up on players themselves and now seem to think... "oh Real Marid,Juventus, Milan etc have had a look at him, he must be good, we'll take him...just name your price".

Its an absolute joke... Im not interested with Madrid were interested or not and "oh he must be alright if they wanted him"...we have him and he is absolutely SHITE... Garrido was twice the player and we got him for 2mill!
The way him and Boateng just trot around as if they are to interested in the way there technique looks is pitiful and to think people come on here and slaughter Zabaleta?! Them to clowns are fit to lace his boots and were bought for a total of 28 millions?! What an embarrasment!

People are saying boateng look decent at CB...Againt Notts County!!!!!! And they still caused him alot of problems!

Get rid of both in the summer, non of them are good enough!!!

Like I've said million times. Defenders need to know how to defend first and foremost.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think scapegoats are a waste of time but for that match he is the nearest thing. His dead ball delivery when we had players committed forward was atrocious and got us into so much trouble. His two shots on target were his only saving grace.

I'm losing patience with him.

When he played his 1st friendly game, his delivery was as good as anyone I've seen, like a left footed Beckham. I really thought we'd cracked it & would score loads from his crosses. He can deliver a ball, which makes the fact that he doesn't, that much more annoying.

My guess is that he's finding the hustle and bustle of the Premiership very difficult to get used to. Funnily enough he did ok for 45 minutes against Lennon at White Hart Lane. Then it turned out he was badly injured and he had to be taken off. I suspect that his confidence is shot at the moment. If AJ was fit he wouldn't be playing at left midfield and in most games Zabaleta would play at left back in preference to him.

As Ted says he is capable of really good delivery. Remember the free kick against Birmingham and the second one he nearly scored with at the end? He's put in some good crosses from time to time too. Actually he put a decent cross in yesterday from a standing start. Frustrating.
