Who's giving/given up?

Postby the_georgian_genius » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:34 pm

First let me get one thing out of the way, we were shite on Thursday and have not played well since Aston Villa away so before any idiot comes back and accuses me of having my head in the sand, up mancini's arse or being blinded with stupidity. This thread isn't about that, there are plenty of other threads to discuss those things.

This thread is a call out/question to ask are fans giving up or have they already given up? If you have given up or are giving up then please stay at home for the next two games.

What we need more than ever is support and encouragement in our next two home games, if you are not prepared to give both then stay away. I've invested 7 months of frustration with a little bit of pleasure mixed in between, i am not prepared to throw that all away at the first sign of coming unstuck otherwise what is the point of those 7 months? The time and money could of been spent elsewhere and probably would have gotten more enjoyment and satisfaction if it had been spent on any other thing than MCFC.

We are more than capable of beating Reading at home and securing a first FA Cup semi final in 30 years.
We are more than capable of overturning our Europa League tie and beating Kiev at home by more than 3 goals.
We are more than capable of going to Stamford Bridge and beating them again.

Of course we are more than capable of doing the complete opposite to all three but that's the beauty of Manchester City.

Have your doubts, have your fears, have your opinions on Mancini, his tactics, the players and their enthusiasm and effort levels but please do all you can to get down to the next two games and do everything you can to support the lads through, from the 1st minute to the last, that is our job description, that is the only thing we can do, we cannot bring on a sub or change formation but we can raise the noise levels and encourage the lads from getting that goal needed to win the game or not booing them off if it is 0-0 at half time.

If we do that then we can look ourselves in the mirror and say "we did our job", if the players and management haven't done theirs then they have no comebacks, don't let us put ourselves in that position and wonder "what if?"

For the Reading game think of going to Wembley for a major competition for the first time in 30 years.
For the Kiev game think Gillingham in 1999 and Spurs in the FA Cup all though this time, we know we have a chance of coming back.

This is Manchester City FFS, we don't do things simple or easy but what there is one thing i know we can do when we want and that is fantastic support that can be the difference in a successful team and an unsuccessful one.

Bluemoon, CTID and all that, the most important week in our history starts tomorrow, lets frigging do our bit lads and lasses.

I stopped reading after it said we played well at Villa away. My memory said we lost and played into Villa's hands with the way we played.Plenty of the ball yes but we didn't that often trouble their keeper.Sounds familiar recently that doesn't it.

But no I am not close to giving up but I do recognise the need for things to change significantly for us to achieve anything positive this year.

I love the enthusiasm GG but to consider that it is the most important week in our history is nonsense mate. Should we get through the next few weeks successfully, it won't even be the most important week in this season.
Also...I commend you on your investment of 7 months...but bear in mind that there are many on here have put in several years of investement.
Oh and by the way...none of them seem to have given up anything yet.

Al that apart mate...your sentiments about getting behind the team are right.

You stopped reading so obviously missed my point about keeping opinions on games to the countless other threads.

I think it is, out of the FA Cup, out of Europe and struggling to finish 4th will almost certainly result in Mancini losing his job meaning we start all over again. A win and a wembley appearance would give this club so much boost than any signing or club news could give us.

Not so historically important mate....We have been knocked out of the cup many mnay times before...we have been knocked out of Europe many times before. In fact we went many years without even getting into Europe....and as for mancini losing his job? We've replaced countless managers previously.
There's nowt so different there then.

We survived the scandal in 1904 that coud have ended our existence. We survived several relegations, We survived the Swales stewardship. We survived 35 years of winning fuck all....Get the picture?

This season is no more important than most. We will have more historic weeks before the season's end.
Life will go on mate...and we will survive.

Do not feel guilty , been here many times over last 34 yrs.

I have been to every other home game in this comp apart from this, not rushing from work.

For me John, who has never seen us win a thing, who has seen us appear in one semi final in my lifetime, this week is so important to me and my generation.

You think some people on here want to stop following City because they criticise?

Do you honestly believe any of us on here will ever STOP following City?? You're post reeks of someone who has only jumped on board recently mate. Not saying you have, but it definitely looks that way from this post.

That aside, I agree that the fans should give everything they have - just like that famous, special Hamburg night. But that goes without saying really...

Given up what? You can't title a thread and then have nothing relating to the title in the body of your post.

Well you can but people might start to think you're an attention seeking 15 month old drone.

I just read the thread title,

I'm not giving up. I do however feel saturated by football and currently the most tempted I've ever been to changing sports.

If by giving up you mean 'who thinks we'll finish 5th and not win a cup', then I'll stick my hand up.

Waste of another season, frankly. Didn't bother me when we didn't have a pot to piss in, as whilst I wondered why we had no money, we still had none. How the Richest Club in the World (TM) can be about as entertaining as the one Keegan left us with is beyond me.

Yes, I will be there on Sunday. And on Thursday, having taken time off work to do so. In fairness, most of the players won't be working either, so eeets normal.

I will never give up, my spirits are down however...

The reason is neither of the following:

1) Boring football
2) Loosing/Drawing

it is the fact that we are doing BOTH 1 and 2 at the same time!

I said it when Hughes got the sack and I'll repeat it here; I don't mind if we play boring/bad football (even as boring as the last few games) if we'd won most of em and taken the PL by storm (points wise). I'd take Mourinho and his defensive formations grind out 1-0 wins all week long if we won the premiership. One thing all (well up untill RM) Mourinho teams have is passion, I'd take boring defensive football if it was done with passion.

I'd also take our current form in doing barely good enough if we played real cracking football, creative, passionate football creating great play and linking up well. Even if we loose a match I'd be quite pleased if we played really well.

It is the combination of bad play and no results that really do me in... I still follow all the news and watch all the games (cannot go to the game as I live in Norway) hoping and thinking each matchday that things are gonna be great and we are going to be passionate and play that great creative offensive play I know we can.

And then we get games like thursday's and I die alittle inside... :-P

In the words of Noel Gallagher "Winning or loosing does not matter, all footballfans just want to be proud of their team". I'd be proud if we played with passion, looking like we are hungry for success. Before writing this I sat on the couch trying to picture in my head how the players would react if we did win the FA cup and I can honestly say I cannot imagine them showing real passion, real happiness... sad but true.

*EDIT*

Once again people don't get what is actually being said expect one, john68 yet again.

I would have said what a waste of 10 minutes that was typing it out but just the one person that can actually debate it is enough to think it was worth it. John68 you are a credit to this forum and my kind of guy when it comes to discussing football.

Tis a shame there is not more like you but nevermind.......

I hope you are all smiling at the end of May, i really do.
